Historia
Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip - a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfre. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.

Disturbingly descriptive. Terrifying in the fact that the concept is not entirely impossible. This infection makes COVID look like a summer cold.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Definitely not for the kiddos!
Revisado: 03-04-24
In true Stephen King form, this story pulls you into a world of mystery and terror. I was certain that reading the book on my own, I may have never nade it through to the end, but having it read to me, I was hooked. The narrator does an excellent job of making you feel and see everything the hero is feeling and seeing, from beginning to end. It was a little off my beaten path, but darkly enchanting and terrifying, at the same time. This is difinitely a must read, if you want a break from the traditional Stephen King fare. Bravo, for both a mesmirizing tale and an outstanding narration, which brought this story to life!

Ben and Marian Rolfe are desperate to escape a stifling summer in their tiny Brooklyn apartment, so when they get the chance to rent a mansion in upstate New York for the entire summer for only $900, it’s an offer that’s too good to refuse. There’s only one catch: Behind a strange and intricately carved door in a distant wing of the house lives elderly Mrs. Allardyce, and the Rolfes will be responsible for preparing her meals.

Definitely a spooky tale!
Revisado: 03-04-24
I saw the movie before reading the book and was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie followed the story line, pretty much true to form. The narration was on point and the experience left me feeling a little haunted, but pleasantly so; which is the whole reason for reading this genre of literature. This title was on sale, but would have been worth the experience at full price.

Jaws is the classic blockbuster thriller that inspired the three-time Academy Award-winning Steven Spielberg movie and made millions of beachgoers afraid to go into the water. Experience the thrill of helpless horror again—or for the first time!

Still terrifying, after all this time!
Revisado: 03-04-24
I used to live along the gulf coast as a child. Swimming in the ocaen was just something we did; camping on the beach, floating out on our rafts until our arms got tired of paddling. After reading this book, and certainly after seeing the movie, I have never ventured out into the ocean any further than my knees. Still, having it narrated to me gave it a little something I'd missed, when reading it on my own. The narrator painted a picture in my mind and at times, I became so engrossed in the tale, that I actually felt like I was there. Great story, great narration, and definitely a great buy!
