Historia
Thorgrim Night Wolf, now somewhere on the south coast of Engla-land, may be closer to his goal of returning home than he has been since reaching Ireland years before, but he is still very, very far away. His son Harald, however, has ambitions beyond just getting home. Given command of one of the ships in the fleet, Harald sees a chance to put his courage on display, unleashing consequences that will lead Thorgrim into a fight against the powerful armies of Wessex, a fight he does not want.

Absolutely riveting
Revisado: 12-13-24
One of the most action packed historical fiction novels I've ever listened to/read. The quality of writing as it changes stories is brilliant. The Reader, fantastic!

Good writing. Great narrating. A little boring.
Revisado: 03-04-24
Good writing and narrating as usual but lacked the usual intrigue and plot development that his other books have.

Characters are all too screwed up to enjoy
Revisado: 06-26-20
I love Wilbur Smith. I’ve listened to almost every one of his recorded books. He always does a good job making characters complex. Not all good, not all bad. This time it didn’t work. I couldn’t finish it. The racism and sexism and all-around disturbed characters is too much and overshadows the historical importance of the Apartheid struggle. I know that it was a dark time in history but he chose to add gas to that fire.

I've never been so sad to end a book
Revisado: 09-24-18
Wilbur Smith is a god among men. His books only get better and better. The way he weaves his riveting stories in with historical events is unrivaled.
