Historia
In a book that Doris Kearns Goodwin has called "brilliantly crafted to draw leadership lessons from history", Philip Barlag uses dramatic and colorful incidents from Caesar's career to illustrate what modern leaders can learn from him. Central to Barlag's argument is the distinction between power and force. When leading his own organization, Caesar never used brute force to motivate his followers.

Fascinating Analysis of Caesar's Leadership Style
Revisado: 03-20-23
The Author has explained well the Leadership Qualities of Julius Caesar.
There is a lot to be learned from him, and this is certainly relevant to our contemporary challenges, even if one is not necessarily a politician or senior manager.
There are some minor historical inaccuracies but this is more than compensated by the corporate background of the author.

Historia
Julius Caesar wrote his exciting Commentaries during some of the most grueling campaigns ever undertaken by a Roman army. The Gallic Wars and The Civil Wars constitute the greatest series of military dispatches ever written. As literature, they are representative of the finest expressions of Latin prose in its "golden" age, a benchmark of elegant style and masculine brevity imitated by young schoolboys for centuries.

A good audio book from a great Leader
Revisado: 03-02-23
The Commentaries of the Gallic Wars are both educational and inspiring. I recommend them to everyone who likes Caesar, Rome or even general history.
Charlton Griffin is an excellent narrator and there are some audio effects between the chapters.
The Civil War Commentaries are incomplete, and both Caesar and Griffin don't quite reach the same Heights. That second part is only for students of War Tactics, hardcore Rome enthusiasts and Caesar followers. I strongly advise those who admire Caesar to skip the final 15 minutes.

A good background story
Revisado: 06-17-22
This audio book shows how the friendship between Kenobi and Organa started.
The first half is both dynamic and entertaining but once they approach the Sith planet, it becomes slow and slightly depressing to listen.
Overall, the first half alone is worth the cost, while the second is manageable.

Mixed Bag
Revisado: 05-14-22
This collection of short stories is a good addition to Episode V. Some are great, others - boring. Some are hilarious, others - sad. Some provide important insights to the original story, while others are of no relevance at all. There is a strong trend towards diversity and the boundaries are pushed way further than in Ross Kemp's Lords of the Sith. I would not recommend it to the youngest Star Wars fans.
The narrators are great, there is suitable background music and the usual sound effects. However, the lack of cooperation between the different stakeholders is disappointing. Male narrators perform Princess Lea, while female - Darth Vader.

For thousands of years, the Chiss Ascendancy has been an island of calm, a center of power, and a beacon of integrity. It is led by the Nine Ruling Families, whose leadership stands as a bulwark of stability against the Chaos of the Unknown Regions. But that stability has been eroded by a cunning foe who winnows away trust and loyalty in equal measure. Bonds of fidelity have given way to lines of division among the families. Despite the efforts of the Expansionary Defense Fleet, the Ascendancy slips closer and closer to civil war.

Historia
A Jedi must be a fearless warrior, a guardian of justice, and a scholar in the ways of the Force. But perhaps a Jedi’s most essential duty is to pass on what they have learned. Master Yoda trained Dooku; Dooku trained Qui-Gon Jinn; and now Qui-Gon has a Padawan of his own. But while Qui-Gon has faced all manner of threats and danger as a Jedi, nothing has ever scared him like the thought of failing his apprentice.

A good addition to Episode IV
Revisado: 11-18-21
Some stories are absolutely fantastic, others made me lough hysterically, a few are sad in good way.
The Narrators are delivering a great performance.
The characters from the Cantina are overexposed, most of them either irrelevant or boring.
Key characters like Luke's Uncle, Jaba, Chubaka and Han Solo (before his dramatic return) are not given the chance to present their points of view.
The Empire is presented in a very one-sided way, while the story for the mouse droid is an audio torture.
Overall, worth the money but be prepared to skip some of the stories.

A true Masterpiece !
Revisado: 06-28-21
The story of Grand Moff Tarkin is presented in a brilliant way by James Luceno and Euan Morton.
A few years ago, this was my first Star Wars audiobook. I listened it for free on You Tube, and it impressed me so much, that after listening all other Star Wars audiobooks on You Tube, I subscribed to Audible.
I have since enjoyed many audiobooks but the only one which surpassed Tarkin was the 2017 Thrawn.
This book introduces in a fascinating way the Imperials from New Hope. There is a great clash between the Empire and Teller's dissidents.
This is not the perfect Good versus pure Evil narrative from New Hope but a far more complex and realistic story, with a deep philosophical meaning.
It helped me to understand the actions and reasoning of Harry Truman from the Summer of 1945.
I listened Tarkin seven times for free on You Tube, and when eventually it was taken down, I purchased it on Audible, because James Luceno and Euan Morton deserve recognition for this exceptional audiobook.
