I rarely give a five star review. This book just gives off that creepy feeling I like from a really good story. The story is a tangled web and just when you think you have it figured out it goes in another direction. Very original and not the typical story line. The narration was also very good.

A very heavy book.

Similar to her first book, two investigations going on at the same time. Slow start but then picked up a quarter of the way through. Even though fiction, the subject matter is sometimes hard to listen to. A good crime story, but easy to figure out “the bad guys.”

This story had an attention-getting beginning. I felt it lagged in the middle a bit. The characters are very likable and interesting. The narration is hard to get used to. For lack of a better word the speech is over enunciated. I did get used to it after awhile. A head’s up one of the investigations involves sexual abuse of children. There are two investigations going on and it seems the first one is forgotten for a time but they eventually get back to it. If you like FBI/police investigation stories you will like this story. It kept me guessing until close to the end.

Kept me guessing

A good thriller that kept me guessing until close to the end. The narration was excellent. A lot of non consensual sex so probably not for everyone. It was hard for me to like the protagonist and her decisions. Not sure if this makes the book more interesting or not. Overall, I gave it four stars because I like the way the story was told.

Great story. Narration was spot on. Told from the victim’s perspective. My kind of story telling. Heavy on details sometimes. One of my recent favorites.

Not what I expected.

I had my doubts about this book at the beginning but after the first chapter I was hooked. I thought the narrator was a good fit for the character and didn’t get the same take as some of the other reviewers who didn’t like the narration. I do like this genre, add in the fast-paced story line and spookiness, it was definitely an enjoyable book.

I really enjoyed this story.

The narration was very good. The book kept me interested and never lagged. Some reviews say it feels like a YA book. The main characters are older teens so I understand that. That did not make me like this book any less. The story was intense and I couldn’t wait to find out how it ended.

18 hours!

This book is 18 hours long. Really? I stopped listening before I was half way through. Then I went back to it a couple months later because I couldn’t figure out what all the hype was about. It’s a good story with well developed characters. But 18 hours? It was way too long for me.
