unique and unexpected pov
Revisado: 06-21-23
This might be the best of the four. It's been a while since a book has caught me off guard. and this one done it. I love how the author uses the mc to banter with the us, the readers. I usually dislike when authors try crazy pov. this was done well imo though. Bravo brent weeks. I see what you did there.

Abercrombie delivers as usual!
Revisado: 10-16-19
Nostalgia with some old characters still hanging out within this gripping story. My only complaint is that it didnt last long enough. Ninefingers unfortunately couldn't make an appearance, but the original team lives on with the dog man. Glockta still wicked as contriving and sly as ever. I'm still a little upset with Abercrombie leaving me cliffhanged with the lack of closure for Ferro..... Am I the only one that wants to delve into that rabbit hole a bit more? Narrator does a remarkable job as always. I really dont think Abercrombie could find a better narrator for these stories. Overall... seems like its setting up for a repeat of the First Law trilogy. Only with a bit more incest and debauchery within this masterpiece. Shivers character pretty much stays from where hes left off from letting old ninefingers go without a fight in red country. all stony and batman voiced. No koska sadly.... I will admit... I was worried I couldn't get into it with the original crew as old has beens.... but its addictive like most of Abercrombie's works...

Historia
Ashok Vadal was once a member of the highest caste in all of Lok. As a Protector, he devoted his life to upholding the Law, rooting out those who still practiced the old ways and delivering justice with his ancestor blade Angruvadal. None was more merciless than he in stamping out the lingering belief in gods and demons among the casteless. His brutality was legendary and celebrated. But soon Ashok learned that his life to that point had been a lie. He himself, senior member of the Protector Order, was casteless. He had been nothing more than an unwitting pawn in a political game.

Refreshing !
Revisado: 04-19-19
Even though it was India inspired setting... it wasnt so much so that it was all you imagined. It was like going into another world while catching just enough culture to keep you visualized without saturating it. The main character is so perfectly flawed sometimes you want to scream at him!! I loved the authors style and cant wait for him to expand on this. I would definitely recommend to all my fantasy reading friends.

Jackal and his fellow half-orcs patrol the barren wastes of the Lot Lands, spilling their own damned blood to keep civilized folk safe. A rabble of hard-talking, hog-riding, whore-mongering brawlers they may be, but the Bastards are Jackal's sworn brothers, fighting at his side in a land where there's no room for softness.

Agitating yet Great and Gritty
Revisado: 04-08-19
Very fun and exciting! loved it! only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that I felt there were a few minor plot holes. The gritty and grim humor was my favorite part. Unfortunately though, I predicted most of the small character outcomes. Although one character threw me a loop and blindsided me. That being said I cant wait for the next one!

I loved this trilogy. Best trilogy since Abercrombie's first law. I was a little worried with the first book but quickly fell in love with characters. I hope he continues to write another trilogy!

Historia
The Gods are dead. The Magelord Salazar and his magically enhanced troops, the Augmentors, crush any dissent they find in the minds of the populace. On the other side of the Broken Sea, the White Lady plots the liberation of Dorminia, with her spymistresses, the Pale Women. Demons and abominations plague the Highlands. The world is desperately in need of heroes. But what they get instead are a ragtag band of old warriors, a crippled Halfmage, two orphans and an oddly capable manservant: the Grim Company.

good read
Revisado: 07-06-18
Took me a while to get hooked. But it finally did toward the end. It isn't Abercrombie, but perhaps the next best thing. It had a more dnd vibe which was refreshing. Super fantasy mixed with grimdark. pretty cool. I recommend it to any fantasy readers.
