Historia
With a new job I didn’t apply for and an extended family I didn’t know I had - midlife has become somewhat problematic. Gluing ghosts back together is easy compared to my new celestial occupation. The Grim Reaper wants to put a ring on it. Tim wants to be a father. Candy Vargo has lost her damn mind, and Jennifer thinks we’re all sparkly vampires. I’ve been given an impossible task with catastrophic consequences for failure, but it wouldn’t be my midlife without another crisis.

Great cast of characters
Revisado: 04-01-22
I love this book. Actually I love the whole series of books.. The characters are great and you start to feel with them or for them. There's a lot of humor - a little bit of it over the top but not too much. Jessica Almacy is wonderful . She puts a lot of life into all of the characters. All of the characters bring you in so that you care about them. None of them are boring.. The one problem I do have is I am not a fan of serial books where it's like a cliff hanger ending and you have to get the next book . I have gone through the 6 available ones in this series and I have preordered the 7th And it is all because of the cliff hangers at the end of each book.

Getting dumped by the Demon of my dreams wasn’t exactly in the game plan. Game plans suck. Throwing caution to the wind is my new motto. I used to be a semi-happily single Vampyre. As the Princess of the Australian Dominion, I have an enormous palace, a fabulous wardrobe, I don’t look a day over 30, and I have gobs of friends — most of whom would be happy to see me permanently deceased. However, they hide it well. In the violent world of the undead, I consider it a win.

To start with I love all Robin Peterman's works.. I have read all of them more than once. Well I won't say all of them because I'm still working through the midlife books But I have read most of them. The stories are always good for me.. And the performers have been 90% spot on. I didn't like the performer who did Astrid and Tiara in Flawed and Forever After because they were very screechy. Unfortunately the performers in this book I think have ruined the characters. It may be because I loved the performers in Dead and Loving it so much. Anastasia went from a sweet accented fun loving woman to Someone you would find in any mall in America. Not that that's bad but I like the 1st version better. The one who did Levi put so much character, personality and humor into his speech that that I greatly enjoyed him. This Performer has portrayed Levi as a boring British upper class citizen.. Not only has the accent changed but so has the cadence of his speech. The performers themselves did a good job and if I had never heard Loving It I would have no problems.. But comparing it to Loving it just brings it all the way down for me

It is hard to rate this book because basically it's two different authors and two different stories. I loved Shelly laurenston's story I've always wondered about Dr Conridge and Niles so this added a lot to her personality in the pride series. She is way more than I thought she was. Although I do believe it was before the pride series it is the first time I've read it. Cynthia Edens book I could not get into. I don't know why but I just stopped after about two chapters because I just couldn't get into it, so the rating I gave it the five stars is basically for Shelly laurenston.

I had trouble understanding the narrator
Revisado: 07-18-20
The story in this book looks like it might be good but the one reader, because there are two, has a very thick Scottish brogue. The other reader has a English accent I think but she's easily understandable. but even if I could understand all the words the cadence is off. It's like he's just reading it and pausing when he wants to pause. Also monotone.

Imagine yourself in Cape Cod in early fall with the steady swells of the waves falling against the sand and the gentle rhythmic chirp of crickets in the dunes. Unlike canned nature sounds created in a studio, renowned acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton gives you the real deal. He travels the world recording remarkable locations that capture the essence of the place itself.

Irritating night insects
Revisado: 07-15-20
Too much crickets and not enough waves. The crickets were so regular most of the time that it was like listening to a metronome. Plus they were louder than the waves by a lot. Others might not mind but I found it irritating.

Shelly Laurenston turns up the heat with two sizzling novellas. Christmas Pride: How come all the good-looking ones are insane? That's what runs through NYPD cop Desiree "Dez" MacDermot's mind the minute she hooks up again with her childhood buddy, Mace Llewellyn. Shaw's Tail: Brendon Shaw, hotel owner and lion shifter, has seen better days. He's been beaten, had a gun to the back of his head, and had to be rescued by a Pack of shape-shifting wolves.

start of a great new series
Revisado: 05-22-20
this book is actually two stories but they're not short stories , they're full size stories full of humor, full of character, full of action and full of drama. The first one starts out with Des at the home of her high school enemy which leads to a lot of drama. She is full human and will go Bronx on your tukus if you annoy her.The second one starts out in a hospital with a lion in a fever. Both have totally hysterical moments. I cannot get the picture of the lion doing the mamba out of my head. This introduced a lot of characters who get their own stories. obviously I have read the other books before I read this one.I would recommend this book as well as the rest of the series to anybody and everybody

Historia
The love of my dastardly immortal life is eating everything that isn't nailed down and tried to behead me over a chocolate croissant. While I take chocolate croissants very seriously, I do believe decapitation is somewhat harsh. My daughters, the Seven Deadly Sins, are driving me to drink. Getting them mated off and the hell out of Hell is at the top on my agenda. The one thing that is keeping me sane - sane being a relative word - is my upcoming special day.

Another success
Revisado: 05-20-20
another awesome book by Robin Peterman. I've read them all multiple times in her hot damn series as well as her other series and she's amazing, she's funny snarky, vivacious, dramatic. I was laughing through this book at several different places especially the one where Satan goes "I don't get paid enough for this". The narrator was great , The voices were all wonderful and nobody sounded really strange. I just want to see the series continue although they gave a hint at the end of this one where it might go and I'm not sure I like that but it's where it should go probably.

A fun read
Revisado: 04-24-20
this book starts out with somebody trying to kidnap a dog. And it just gets better from there. You have old mobsters, Hitman, cleaners, ditzy women, a crazy mother who's trying to ruin a wedding, plus much more. The characters seem true to life to me . the ones that were mobsters actually sound like they were mobsters. there's even a love story in there although it's not blatant. I know I'm not describing it well but I just had such a good time reading this book between the comedy and the intrigue and the unique ideas going on in it. I would definitely recommend it.

Re-review
Revisado: 04-01-20
I originally read this the day it came out. Although I should say listened to and not read however. I was extremely disappointed and left a very negative review.. My review was based on the fact that the author had changed the main character's personality 180°, dropped several storylines that she had built up, story lines that I was interested in . I felt the book was just a way to introduce new characters for a new storyline and a throwaway for the current story lines. I Just listened to it for the 1st time since then and I will amend my review. Disregarding my disappointment over the storyline, this story was actually very well written with engaging and interesting characters as well as Ms Laurenston's humor and witty writing. Had I never read and gotten attached to Max I would have liked this story from page one.

great story but I should have read it
Revisado: 02-21-20
this is the second book in the Queen Betsy series. I love the story I love the characters. The characters are well developed and you can tell where they're coming from. The main characters have personality plus. The only problem with this book is the performer. I realize for the person reading the story that they have to portray many characters. A female performed this but there were a lot of male characters and she does not do men well. The main male character is a tall dark handsome large dominant male vampire. but listening to him sounded like a snooty effeminate butler. And then Mark the doctor sounded like an eight-year-old kid. And she had some really weird accents going on for all of them. I'm not sure I will get the rest of the books on audible. I may just get the books and read them on Kindle. because the sound of the main character and how he's described do not match at all.
