I normally hate vampire books but Mary Calmes does it again. Blows everything out of the water with her incredible storytelling, her vivid and real characters, and such intense plot lines. Once again I’ve fallen in love with her books and I crave more.

Word to the wise, this is BDSM

I wish I had a warning about that when I bought the book. I adore Cardeno but stories about whipping and caning and the Lifestyle is not for me. I couldn’t finish it. But I suggest the authors other books, they are a great writer.

Give this story a chance

Mary Calmes writes 99% of the time from the bottoms POV. So it blindsided me when Croy was the top but you don’t find out until chapter 3 so I was so confused at the very beginning. His actions make much more sense if you know from the start he’s the Alpha instead. Second the voice actor takes a bit to get comfortable. Give him until chapter 2 and he really gets comfortable and it becomes a pleasure to listen to. Even though the first chapter was annoying in the dictation. Give the story a chance and it’s just as wonderful as all her books are.

Nothing but PWP

I adore Cardeno. But this was nothing but explicit scenes and very sprinkling of plot. Which would be fine but the narrator is very monotone. Which can be soothing and peaceful to listen to .. it just didn’t work with this erotica of a story. I would highly recommend reading the book I love everything Cardeno writes along with Mary Calmes. Just skip the audible version of this.

Greg absolutely makes a great story to a magnificent one. Mary Calmes is my favorite author but a voice actor can make or break even a favorite. He breathes life into the story and I feel a part of the story in a way few voice actors can. Together the two of them are unstoppable.

Feels like reading a self published book

It’s not bad. It just needs work. The sentences are choppy at times. The characters have serious potential. The chemistry between them is real. And to be fair maybe I missed it in the blurb. But I was not expecting BDSM at all. I was like woah what the heck is this? Collars and Doms and pretty boys being looked at like pieces of meat to be used up and tossed. It has so much potential. And yes it’s twenty hours long and yes it needs some serious editing work because oh how it’s drags in scenes. I got to chapter three before the BDSM stuff started being really heavily shoved at me and I gave up. On a good note, love the narrator. He doesn’t really do the voices like the others do. But his accent is gorgeous and pleasant to listen to.

Still wonderful

You can tell its one of her older books. The quality of writing from this one to one of her newest, like Stay is remarkable in how she grows as a writer. I love this book so much because the characters are so real to me. And it inspires so much emotion. Sam pisses me off cause he's a brute to Jory and Jory just forgives him in the second volume. So I highly love the first volume. Hate the second one. But Bulletproof is wonderful. And But for You is beautiful.

The writing was graphic and unpleasant. It was written more for men, which I imagine was fine, but as a woman reader it was just icky and gross. I love sex scenes as any man, but give me something besides details such as ten inch dick or moaned obscenely.

Always amazing.

Mary Calmes is the master of fluff and happily ever after and impossibly perfect men. She's just fun to read and this book is no exception. It's just perfect and an easy listen when you just want something happy. And Sean Crisden (and Paul Morey) is my favorite voice actor. So it's just a really good one to listen over and over again to.
