Historia
In The Return of the Gods, Cahn takes the listener on a journey from an ancient parable, the ancient inscriptions in Sumer, Assyria, and Babylonia that become the puzzle pieces behind what is taking place in our world to this day, specifically in America. The mystery involves the gods. Who are they? What are they? And is it possible that these beings, whose origins are from ancient times, are the unseen catalysts of modern culture?

Data Driven
Revisado: 02-06-23
This book reads like a supernatural conspiracy theorist wrote it except that it is so well researched and data driven that the author forces you to pause and consider his words. I do believe Cahn is on to something. The dramatic change in our culture suggests that a supernatural force is at work.
There are two weaknesses to listening to this book. First, there is the inability to see footnotes or references. Many times I found myself Googling what was being presented in order to find out if Cohn was presenting the material fairly. every time I did that, the author was accurate.
The second challenge of listening to the book is the inability to highlight the material. While the author was successful in conveying his premise, I am not sure that I could repeat that with any success having only listened to the book.
The author frequently uses the same line throughout the book, "But could there be something more to...?" You may find this annoying to listen to if you are bothered by such things.
Overall, I found this book to be very interesting and had no trouble completing it. The voice actor did a great job and the author did a fine job of presenting complex material and an easy to understand way. I wouldn't call the book "must read," but I would recommend it to someone who wants a better understanding of the major cultural shifts in our nation in the last 60 years or so. Unless I needed it for research purposes, I would not read this book again. Borrowing this book from a library or a friend would be my suggestion unless you're buying a physical copy that you could highlight in. I really hate to say that because I found the voice actor did a more than adequate job. I would definitely listen to a book he narrated again without hesitation.

The Life You've Always Wanted offers modern perspectives on the ancient path of the spiritual disciplines. But it is more than just a book about things to do to be a good Christian. It's a road map toward true transformation that starts not with the individual, but with the person at the journey's end - Jesus Christ.

Dee Brown's eloquent, meticulously documented account of the systematic destruction of the American Indian during the second half of the 19th century uses council records, autobiographies, and firsthand descriptions. Brown allows great chiefs and warriors of the Dakota, Ute, Sioux, Cheyenne, and other tribes to tell us in their own words of the battles, massacres, and broken treaties that finally left them demoralized and defeated.

Historia
Dallas Willard spent his life making eternal living concrete for his friends. After his unexpected passing in 2013, the kaleidoscope of memories and the diversity of the lives he had touched could not be confined to one or even two memorial services but three. It is this wide breadth of impact that inspired friends, family, colleagues, students, and leaders of the church to gather their reflections on this celebrated yet humble theologian and philosopher.

Dallas Honored
Revisado: 03-01-21
The greatest testimony a person can have is the one others share about them. In a time when spiritual giants seem so often to be falling, this expression of love, appreciation, and honor shines so very brightly.

Drawing on their own cross cultural experience in global mission, O'Brien and Richards show how better self-awareness and understanding of cultural differences in language, time, and social mores allow us to see the Bible in fresh and unexpected ways. Getting beyond our own cultural assumptions is increasingly important for being Christians in our interconnected and globalized world. Learn to read Scripture as a member of the global body of Christ.

Very Helpful Read

This is a book that every Western Christian needs to read. It is so helpful to hear how our own cultural biases and blind spots influence the way we understand Scripture. This is a book that I will definitely be rereading!

Good content, poor execution
Revisado: 02-12-20
This book is worth a listen, but I have found this publisher does not seem to care where the chapter breaks go. I really appreciate listening to books by Dallas Willard, but chapter breaks in the middle of chapters and never in the right place just annoy me. Also, I wish they titled their chapters.
