Historia
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

I don’t get it
Revisado: 11-09-24
I got this title because I like this genre and it is clearly a very popular series. It never captured my attention and I really do not understand what all the hype is about.

I enjoyed the author’s style but did not find this neutral or objective. The author is negative and anti-Christian.

This story was so sad. It was gripping and well told. I’m in the same age range and it made me appreciate my relatively normal upbringing.

Just ok
Revisado: 06-14-24
I’m sure some people like sound effects in their audio books but I do not. I HATED the almost constant background noise of traffic and birds. For me it adds nothing but distracts from the story. The story was interesting but failed to draw me in and make me feel invested in the story.

A bit unsatisfying

I liked the plot description and thought the idea of a possible mixup of babies was very interesting. The story itself seemed long and never really grabbed my attention.

Just ok
Revisado: 06-05-24
Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres, but this book just didn’t do it for me. The subject matter is very interesting but the parts that did not adhere to history were too implausible for me. I also felt that the narration was somewhat monotonous and flat, and therefore did not keep my attention.

Historia
Charlie Vega is a lot of things. Smart. Funny. Artistic. Ambitious. Fat. People sometimes have a problem with that last one. Especially her mom. Charlie wants a good relationship with her body, but it's hard, and her mom leaving a billion weight loss shakes on her dresser doesn't help. The world and everyone in it have ideas about what she should look like: thinner, lighter, slimmer-faced, straighter-haired. Be smaller. Be whiter. Be quieter. But there's one person who's always in Charlie's corner: her best friend Amelia.

Yuck
Revisado: 11-27-23
The male character is controlling - rather than romanticize that and have the female swooning to his demands, I’d prefer a female lead that would send a man like that packing. I stuck with the series because I enjoy Xe Sands’ narration but I did not enjoy the story.

Ok
Revisado: 11-19-23
I was really looking forward to this prequel in the O’Brien tales series. It was fine but I did not enjoy it as much as the others. The narrator is a real negative for me. She often produces vowels in a staccato manner and sounds like she’s choking out words while running out of breath. Oddly, it mostly happens while reading narrator bits and rarely happens when speaking character dialogue. I find it SUPER annoying.
