Historia
For more than 40 years, the US government has researched extrasensory perception, using it in attempts to locate hostages, fugitives, secret bases, and downed fighter jets, to divine other nations' secrets, and even to predict future threats to national security. The intelligence agencies and military services involved include CIA, DIA, NSA, DEA, the navy, air force, and army - and even the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Now, for the first time, New York Times best-selling author Annie Jacobsen tells the story of these radical, controversial programs.

So FUN!!!
Revisado: 06-12-24
I have become quite a fan of Annie Jacobsen this last year. She digs into details, names and minutiae that trigger memories of my 50"s and 60's childhood in the scientific/engineering community in New Mexico. At the age of seventy, I am still trying to understand the possibilities of quantum entanglement with regard to human beings. Annie always structures and writes her books to draw me inside, and this one is no exception! This book was such a pure pleasure to listen to that I was indeed sad at its conclusion. Thanks Annie! Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

The story and the writing, excellent. I especially loved Zachary Quinto's ability to speak for Valdez from a place of great stillness, which really brought him alive!

This book is the best thriller written by one of my favorite authors! I was sorry to hear it end. The narrator's mastery of a variety of accents and characters is remarkable! A VERY worthy investment if your time.

Historia
In the last years of her life, Teresa Lim's mother, Violet Chang, had copies of a cherished family photograph made for those in the portrait who were still alive. The photo is mounted on cream card with the name of the studio stamped at the bottom in Chinese characters. The place and date on the back: Hong Kong, 1935. Teresa would often look at this photograph, enticed by the fierceness and beauty of her great-aunt Fanny looking back at her. But Fanny never seemed to feature in the told and retold family stories. Why? she wondered.

Historia
In 1912, at the height of World War I, brilliant Shakespeare expert Elizebeth Smith went to work for an eccentric tycoon on his estate outside Chicago. The tycoon had close ties to the US government, and he soon asked Elizebeth to apply her language skills to an exciting new venture: code breaking. There she met the man who would become her husband, groundbreaking cryptologist William Friedman. Though she and Friedman are in many ways the Adam and Eve of the NSA, Elizebeth's story, incredibly, has never been told.

Brilliant! Engaging, luminous!
Revisado: 08-10-19
It’s impossible to overstate how much I enjoyed this audiobook! The author’s treatment of what might have been a difficult subject was a pure pleasure to ingest. I now have a new American heroine ( and spouse). Fagone brings this couple to life in a way that is unforgettable. I am a fan of audiobooks, and this is my very favorite. The text answers elucidates so very many areas of murky history for me. The narrator brings such warmth and intelligence to the text, and the choice of a female narrator is much appreciated. I wish I could give them both more than five stars!

36 Hours and Zero Hour
Revisado: 09-27-18
I really love Akart’s series, and this is no exception. The voice and diction of the narrator is a very comfortable American voice to me. Akart spins a good yarn with great pacing and plot twists which are very informative for those of us who don’t qualify as preppers but accept good advice from all quarters. I REALLY appreciate that Bobby’s characters think thru situations so that I can be forewarned. I also like the inclusion of religious faith in a gentle way. You can be sure I will keep reading Bobby Akart! Thanks especially for his deft way of keeping it clean.

When it arrives, it spreads across oceans and continents, like the sweep of nightfall, killing millions, or even billions. Be prepared to get very, very paranoid. A new post-apocalyptic medical thriller fiction series from author Bobby Akart.

Splendid Second Book
Revisado: 09-09-18
As a scientist and nurse, I thoroughly enjoyed this next chapter in the very believable pa democratic story. Like any great work, I was stunned by the ending and eagerly await the next book! Akart’s splendid research team, whose details about medical care, epidemiology and my beloved Colorado held me in the narrative with no eye-rolling or head-shaking about sloppy artistic license-they nailed it!
