Historia
Beckett: If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have. I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride. My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart.

Beautiful and heartbreaking and uplifting.
Revisado: 01-10-25
I was going to say this book hit me so hard because I have kids myself, but I think this book will impact anyone who has a beating heart.
The author of this book crafted a beautifully heartbreaking story. She perfectly brings the reader through every emotion imaginable. The narrators were absolutely perfect. They drew me in right away and wouldn’t let go until the very end.
I listened to the last two hours and sobbed. I mean, the kind of sobbing where you can’t breathe and is usually reserved for real heartbreak.
Buy this book. You won’t regret it.

Neither knows why they were chosen, only that they share a tragic past: Evan’s father got away with killing Noelle’s mother, effectively ruining her family when the death was ruled an accident. Despite the connection that should have made them enemies, the teens instead unite to face their other common denominator—their abductors. Noelle and Evan survive one sadistic circumstance after another, eventually making a harrowing escape. But every happy ending comes at a price…

Beautiful and heartbreaking
Revisado: 03-15-24
I don’t know if any other book has ever loved me as much as this book has. It was a beautifully written, yet heartbreaking story of love, acceptance, and overcoming great real to find peace. I have four children and have always loved them with my entire being, but it makes me so happy I can watch them grow and love and laugh everyday. This book is certainly not a disappoint and it we’ll work a credit of even the full purchase price.

Amazing!!
Revisado: 08-24-19
This is the best Karin Slaughter yet. I’ve been in love with the Will Trent series (well, every one of her books, to be honest) since book one and I cannot begin to explain how much I love this one. The storyline pulls you in from the first sentence and just does not let you go. I’m always a little concerned that the newest book in a series won’t live up to the others that came before it, but, in my opinion, this one completely surpasses the others.
As always, Kathleen Early delivers a flawless performance.
Seriously, don’t pass this one up.

Elle is a survivor. She’s managed to piece together a solid life from a childhood of broken memories and fairy tales her mom told her to explain away bad dreams. But weekly visits to her mother still fill Elle with a paralyzing fear she can’t explain. It’s just another of so many unanswered questions she grew up with in a family estranged by silence and secrets.

I absolutely loved this book. The narrators were on point and the story kept me engaged. The author told the story so well I could feel all the emotions of the characters: the confusion, the anger, the heartbreak, the sadness. Definitely do not pass this book up.

Loved the story, hated the narrator...

I really enjoyed the story itself, but COULD NOT STAND the narrator. She was FAR to breathy while speaking and the voices she used for the different characters were FAR too high pitched and unbelievable.

Great story, disappointing narration
Revisado: 05-31-18
Overall, I thought the story was great. I've loved the characters since The Butterfly Garden and love how strong and resilient Mercedes is in this book. With that being said, the narration was pretty disappointing. I though Siri Scott did much better in Roses of May, but maybe that's because she didn't preform the entire book. I thought she was too "over the top" with some of the things and she made the characters in this book sound like they were missing brains in their heads. I think it would have been a more enjoyable listening experience if someone else narrated the book.
