Ugh, I hate give poor reviews, especially when I genuinely like the author. This was the most boring piece of fluff I’ve listened to in years. There were no depth to the characters backstory and no challenge to the character’s actions. To me it was crap, and I feel bad about myself for finishing it.

Bad Narration

While I enjoy Nicole’s books, I’ve been disappointed in the choice of narrators for the audio versions. I took a chance on Too Hostile because I enjoyed the book version. Sad to say, I am disappointed again. The narrators voices sound way to old for the characters. Especially Ronan’s narrator. He sounded more like jaded middle aged teacher than a 26 year old young man. I wonder if it’s a matter of narrator fees or if the author even gets to pick the narrator? A narrator makes or breaks the story and these two do not do the story any favors IMO.

Book was better

Kirt always fits his voice to the character, but I did not like Derek’s narrator at all. He just sounded angry even when the dialogue was meant to be passionate. And his take on Wyn’s character made him sound like a little old man. I enjoyed the book version of this story very much, but in my opinion, Shannon’s narration ruined the audio experience for me.

I know most people will disagree with me on this, but I just can’t stand Ms Wilder’s inflection. It always sounds like she’s either asking a question or solving a clue. And her side characters sound like they’re 12 years old. I told myself to just read the book..don’t waste the credit, but noooo excitement for Posey’s story took over. Now I’m FF through her parts.

Update…Quit after chapter 8 and returned. Just can’t deal with sexy times when one of the characters sounds s prepubescent.

OUTSTANDING ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The second installment is as if not better than B&B. Eric Nolan is phenomenal as Lachlan. Just the right amount of growly and groveling. Just wow…he blew me away. Ms Brentmoor was also fantastic as Lark. Worth the credit and then some.

Who picks these narrators? They did not fit the characters at all. I told myself not to waste the $$ but I didn’t listen. These are young country boys and they sound like 40 year old men. Just going to stick with the book versions of her books from now on. I have yet to find a Cora Rose audio book with good dual narration.

I love this trope. I just with the narrators we switched up for each book. Not really a fan of Ms Paige’s interpretation of the female leads. They all come across as whiny childish teenagers.

Seriously? Rix just allowing herself to be disrespected not only by Tristan but by her own brother was just gross. I can usually disregard storylines that tease the line, but this story was downright misogynistic and makes it seem like it’s okay for an asshole to treat you like shit for years but you still give it up? I don’t think so. And if my brother treated women the way Flip does, I would have kicked him in the balls myself. He had good role models, but still treated the girls like they weren’t even people. Everyone in this story needs some serious therapy. I understand this is make believe, but what kind message is being sent? I won’t be purchasing anything else from Hunting.

Disappointed

I really like this author and truly enjoyed the book. The audio book was kind of a let down. Kit is a new narrator to me and I was okay with her for the first half. But by 3/4 through, I was fast forwarding through her parts. She always sounded 2 seconds away from crying or having a nervous breakdown. Disappointing. Connor as always hit the spot. Can’t go wrong with him.
