Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

The story had me from the first moment. By the end I was so connected to the characters that their situations made my eyes leak. I’m not usually a sci-fi fan, but now I’m definitely an Andy Weir fan.

Historia
Between his work on the 2014 Audible Audiobook of the Year, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel, and his performance of Classic Love Poems, narrator Richard Armitage ( The Hobbit, Hannibal) has quickly become a listener favorite. Now, in this defining performance of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield, Armitage lends his unique voice and interpretation, truly inhabiting each character and bringing real energy to the life of one of Dickens' most famous characters.

Awful
Revisado: 04-23-24
The first chapter could have been done in three paragraphs. Rather, it was 30 minutes of repetition. I’ve never read this author before, now I will never again. I can’t move past the monotone vocals and redundant storytelling. It’s no classic, that’s for certain. Thumbs down.

Historia
Written in the winter of 1849, The Scarlet Letter unfolds the story of Hester Prynne, a young woman branded as an adulteress in the harsh Puritan world of 17th-century New England. As Hester calls on her inner strength to transcend her shame, the scarlet letter ceases to be a stigma and finally becomes Hester's symbol of self-affirmation. This dramatic reading heightens the sense of lyric poetry that permeates every line of Nathaniel Hawthorne's great novel.

Well read, however...
Revisado: 12-27-20
At times it seems as though Ms. Learned was in a hurry to get through the reading. I use this recording with students and ask them to follow in their books, but there are instances when it is difficult to do so. Otherwise, a very well read and easily understood recording.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Revisado: 08-04-20
The story is well crafted, touching, informative, and entertaining. It was interesting right through to the end and I managed not to “think too hard” about possible outcomes, so the ending was not spoiled. Highly recommend.

In this captivating young adult edition of her award-winning number one New York Times best seller, Laura Hillenbrand tells the story of a former Olympian's courage, cunning, and fortitude following his plane crash in enemy territory. This adaptation of Unbroken introduces a new generation to one of history's most thrilling survival epics. On a May afternoon in 1943, an American military plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.

Revisado: 11-25-19
What Louis and his fellow POW’s endured is unspeakable. His life is a testament to the power of self, friends, and God. Hillenbrand tells the story masterfully. The reading is impeccable and I highly recommend this book and recording.

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.
