Cancer is a scary word partly because we don’t understand it and partly because we can’t always cure it. This book throws lights on the history of medicine and science related to cancer in all its truth…the setbacks, the failures, and the achievements. It is a brilliant book and highly recommended for anyone who wants to understand how science and humanity need to get along to solve big challenges.

While it’s hard to feel as optimistic as Dr Mann in this fight, doomism is of no use to anyone. It’s important that books like this are here to highlight why everything is not going to hell all the time. There’s always something we can do. We here is the governments and peoples of the world. Individual action, while vital, is not as important as decarbonisation of the electricity grid or transport sector.
My biggest problem with this audiobook was the narrator’s constant mispronunciation of Greta Thunberg’s name. Why!?

The last few chapters about consent and how men and women look at (or ignore) consent were especially interesting. The complicated topic was very well navigated.

Dragons are tricky creatures and it doesn’t make life any easier for anyone involved that they have to cohabit with humans who are ever so fickle themselves. This book is a great insight into living with dragons and I loved listening to every second of it. The combination of David Tennant and Hiccup ensures an enthralling few hours in Burke.
It was a perfectly fantastic book to listen to while dealing with the everyday mundane. 😊

Pretty amazed how close it was to accurate because I was expecting a weird stereotypical presentation.
A good place to start if you don’t know anything about travelling to a third world country. There will be contrasts around everywhere you go in India but it’s a good place to visit. The few things I tell my friends planning to visit India for the first time is be careful with your belongings, avoid drinking unboiled or tap water, and plan for the worst.
The most annoying thing is the way we tend to be super fascinated with white people and how much people tend to bother them for photos or put them on a pedestal in the working environment or objectify female tourists.

This was a wonderful audiobook. Thoroughly enjoyed the narration by the brilliant Stephen Fry. I remember reading and making a class presentation about the Labours of Hercules when I was 12 and it was a lot of fun to be reminded of all the stories and legends I vaguely remembered.
It was equal parts humorous , informative and entertaining.

i recommend it to anyone looking for a good light-hearted view of the absurdity of religion and the practicality of atheism. There is no hope for over-zealous people who rationalize religious beliefs and listening to this book would not change your mind anyway because you would just get offended and stop listening to it after the first chapter but for everyone else this could be enjoyable. Don't go in with hope for a literary experience and the book will stand true to it's name.

I love Graham Norton! He’s the best chat show host and now, it seems, a good narrator as well. I’m glad it wasn’t sappy even in the parts that were actually sad and he’s not overly modest about his success as well. It’s a real book, about real stories and incidents without embellishments, and fun to listen to on a walk. What more do you need from an autobiographical piece?

There is so much information to comprehend here that I had to listen to the whole book twice . It was equally exhilarating both times. I recommend it to everyone interesting in learning about any -ologies of science and philosophy. Even if you’re not interested in science and history just listen to this...you will become interested.
