Historia
It's a Tuesday morning in Brooklyn - a perfect September day. Wendy is heading to school, eager to make plans with her best friend, worried about how she looks, mad at her mother for not letting her visit her father in California. An hour later comes the news: A plane has crashed into the World Trade Center - her mother's office building. Through the eyes of Wendy, we gain entrance to the world rarely shown by those who documented the events of that one terrible day: a family's slow and terrible realization that Wendy's mother has died, and their struggle to go on with their lives.

Horrible nasally high pitched voice.
Revisado: 10-19-24
I could not get into this audible book because the childlike narration was impossible to endure .
Normally I would not want to offend anyone and this lady is probably very nice..but not as a narrator.

Historia
For decades, Sandra Brown’s life has been intertwined with someone she has never met: an eleven year-old girl named Moira Anderson – who disappeared from their hometown of Coatbridge, Scotland, in 1957. It became one of the oldest cold cases in Scottish history. Sandra lived just around the corner from Moira. She grew up hearing about the missing girl, whose memory haunted the town. But she never imagined that, one day, she would be the one trying to uncover what happened. Or that her search for answers would reveal secrets and lies so close to home.

Unfulfilling
Revisado: 08-16-24
I did not see the point of the story since it has no real conclusion.
It was very interesting, I admit, just unsatisfying.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

JD's narcissism
Revisado: 08-15-24
If JD's arms were long enough, he'd reach around and pat himself on his back.
This fraud schemes and scams his way ahead,
always looking for a way to self promote.
I read this book when he first wrote it, before this fake braggart actually fooled the people and got himself elected.
At the time, I wrote a scathing Review on Amazon..
In other words, I spotted this fraud years ago and am amazed that others fell hard for this highly embellished, enhanced and exaggerated account of his upbringing .
Cant say you weren't warned.
"JD" ONLY CARES ABOUT JD.

A balanced account of game changes, conflicts and ambitions. The fall from popular grace of the previously adulated brother of the heir to the British throne as a consequence of his marriage to a beautiful and dynamic Hollywood starlet of colour makes for fascinating listening in best-selling royal author Lady Colin Campbell's balanced account. Lady Colin knows her royal history and psychology, and as the first seven years of her adult life were spent in the USA, she has a foot in both the American and British camps.

Way too much emphasis on race
Revisado: 04-14-24
The author seemed to be hung up on Megan's bi-racual identity..possibly more than Meghan herself was/is.
Author fixated on race which shows her own bias.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Historia
After a decade-long addiction to crack cocaine and alcohol, Charlie Engle hit bottom with a near-fatal six-day binge that ended in a hail of bullets. As Engle got sober, he turned to running, which became his lifeline, his pastime, and his salvation. He began with marathons, and when marathons weren't far enough he began to take on ultramarathons, races that went for 35, 50, and sometimes hundreds of miles, traveling to some of the most unforgiving places on earth to race.

Maybe it was intentional
Revisado: 09-09-17
that so much of his personal marriage/family issues were left out.
I found myself thinking how extremely selfish and self centered he seemed.
The hardship his travels and work that his family must have endured were a mere "honorable mention".
Maybe his ex-wife and kids did not want anything written about them..it's difficult to tell .
As a jump rope /jogger for many years, I enjoyed
the details about the races, etc.
But this was a total self-congratulatory memoir, with little to no mention of his family's support or struggles while he persued his own dreams.

I enjoyed the narrator immensely..she used the right inflections, emphasis and clarity.
And the story itself, although a bit unbelievable, was still suspenseful .
I found myself listening carefully to every detail, imagining what Grace was going through.
Highly recommend!

Historia
In her phenomenally popular essays and long-running Tumblr blog, Roxane Gay has written with intimacy and sensitivity about food and body, using her own emotional and psychological struggles as a means of exploring our shared anxieties over pleasure, consumption, appearance, and health. As a woman who describes her own body as "wildly undisciplined", Roxane understands the tension between desire and denial, between self-comfort and self-care.

Captivating
Revisado: 07-24-17
Roxane's brutal honesty was sometimes as uncomfortable to hear...as it was for her to speak of.
Her story, her life, is not wrapped up in a bow with a happily ever after last chapter, but is a real and true tale of one woman's who seems to struggle with her "right' to "be" in today's world.
I did hear one minor error...Michael Jackson used PROPOFOL (improperly as a sleep aid), not FENTANYL, which is the strongest opiate given for pain (and causing overdose deaths).
