GREAT FOLLOW UP
Revisado: 10-01-19
I recently listened to the first Sean Parnell book and really enjoyed it. I always consider how long the book was and how long it felt. I have tried to listen to some books that maybe only 4 hours long but it feels like it takes you a week to get through it. This book is almost 10 hours but in the end, you can't remember listening to it for 10 hours. You feel as if the time flew by. You are captivated by the book, author and narration. That's a good book. This is one of those.
This book is a continuation of Man of War. It takes place 6 months after the first book ends. It picks up right away and you are hooked immediately. The details make this book what it is. It's worth listening too.

Great New Series
Revisado: 09-27-19
I'm always looking for a good fiction book and this was one worth listening too.
First of all, RC Bray never disappoints so nothing more to add there.
The book was well written, had plenty of action and a great storyline. In the end, I had some questions about the main character, the president, and hoped for more which I guess is a good thing. I was ready to jump into the 2nd book right away.
This book is worth the credit, pick it up. If you like Miltary Fiction you will enjoy this.

Just not the same
Revisado: 09-27-19
So I am a fan of the previous Gears of War Books and I have been waiting for the next book in the serious. This book did not meet up to the others, at least in my opinion.
The writing just doesn't compare to the previous books. Karen Travis did an amazing job with the previous books and I'm not sure why they changed the author, but a big mistake. The audio also does not compare. David Colacci did an amazing job and you get hooked with the tone of voice for each character. I had a difficult time relating to these characters and this book. Maybe if you were to approach it as a stand-alone book you may enjoy it. For a fan of the previous books who came into it with high expectations, it disappointed. Sorry.

See the movie? Listen to the book
Revisado: 06-05-19
I picked this book up on a whim because I was looking for a military book. This is a great book. I actually only live 15 minutes away from Mexicali, Mexico so it really added a whole new perspective for me. If you like military books or if you enjoyed the movie pick up this book, it's worth the credit.
It's amazing what some men are willing to do for their family and for our freedom and more of their stories need to be told.

A good series...
Revisado: 06-05-19
I have to admit I like this series but don't love it. It's a good series but every time the next book comes out I have a hard time remembering the original books so it's not a series that I love, but I do like.
This series has great characters, good story-line, and good action. The narration by RC BRAY is great which really adds to the development and personalization of each character. If you have not picked up this series go back and grab it, it's a good listen.

Historia
The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?" Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun. We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near. When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate. The survivors do what is necessary.

Nothing great about it
Revisado: 06-05-19
Unfortunately, I really think this story is done. I really enjoyed the original few books however the last one in the series was. a stretch and I believe this book is as well. Others have commented that this book is as funny as the original expeditionary force book but I completely disagree. Yes, it has a few funny moments, however, that's all. I finished the book for the sake of finishing it however nothing great here. A good book maybe but I believe this series is over. Sorry, I really was hoping this would be a step back into the original 4 or 5 expeditionary force books but it was not.
As always, RC BRAY did an amazing job which helps a little.

Too much bickering....
Revisado: 04-29-19
One of the things I initially loved was the story of Joe and his Beer Can... However, too much. I can say that this book was more like listening to a married couple argue for hours. Although within limits it was funny to hear and entertaining. This book was too much of that, not enough storyline and it felt like it dragged on. I think this series could have been ended 2 books ago and at this point not sure if it's worth continuing.
I'm a fan, but just end the story, give us some closure and move on.

The beginning of a good series...
Revisado: 04-24-19
I receive a free copy of this book for an honest review.
First of all, I must say that I love everything read by RC Bray.
I was impressed by this book. It was a good story with great characters and what appears to be the beginning of a good series.
The author did an amazing job of introducing some great stories and a great story line.
If you enjoy sci-fi books then this is a must-read book brought to life by RC Bray.

Historia
Millions are satisfied to sit through hour-long, weekly religious services. Millions more have left the church, brokenhearted and cynical. But God is waking up his people - people who will risk everything and sacrifice anything to become the dynamic, powerful church seen in Scripture. We Are Church calls Christ-followers, young and old, to hold fast to their biblical roots while seeking radical change. Scripture promises an exuberant and unstoppable church. That wondrous early church of acts can be our reality today.

Another great book by Francis Chan with one catch!
Revisado: 09-21-18
Ok, so I love the book I don't love the narrator. One of the things that I have always enjoyed about Francis Chan's other audio books is the fact that he narrated them. Although this narrator was ok, he clearly lacked Francis' enthusiasm and personality. I am not sure why they went with a different narrator, but I do feel that it made a negative impact on the book itself.
About the book: A deep look at the church today from an honest perspective. As a minister it has led me to do some self-assessment of myself and our church. I am trying to learn from it and constructively assess our church and what we can do to better serve God and Love others.
