Historia
Most people try their best to avoid conflict. Bar Rescue host Jon Taffer understands that. Conflict can have negative results. It’s easy to think that the key to a happy workplace or marriage is to avoid conflict. In reality, that’s not the case—the key is to argue smarter. Enter the Toolkit for Getting Conflict Right. Taffer’s approach is focused on deliberate conflict—otherwise known as “conflict with a purpose.”

Taffer has experience
Revisado: 08-21-24
I’m a big fan of bar rescue and have tremendous respect for Jon. I sought out articles, interviews and his books to see what makes him tick, and in this case it’s all in the title. Jon has tons of experience with confrontation and stating uncomfortable truths that get at the heart of any given situation. He explains how he leverages conflict and emotions in order to steer people towards better outcomes. I found this book insightful and agree with the message.

A short listen with fantastic narration from the author herself. Sends a positive message about striving for Courage, Compassion, and Connection in your life and not letting the “gremlins” hold you back.

Historia
Everyone knows how hard it can be to maintain a healthy diet. But what if some of the decisions we make about what to eat are beyond our control? Is it possible that food is addictive, like drugs or alcohol? And to what extent does the food industry know, or care, about these vulnerabilities? In Hooked, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Michael Moss sets out to answer these questions - and to find the true peril in our food.

Informative and important
Revisado: 05-05-21
Hooked takes a look at how food companies manipulate us with their vibrant packaging and ever changing product lines. Humans love variety and are hardwired to seek out sugary/calorie dense meals. The onus is on the individuals eating to make healthy choices because the food companies’ main concern is profit. They operate within the law and thus far, have not been held accountable for anyone’s weight gain. The author recommends that we love what we eat instead of eating what we love. We can accomplish this by making new positive memories with healthy food.
