The phantom meh

This is an okay but mostly forgettable story that was mainly written to fill a plot hole in rise of Skywalker. I think that it's a good bit of world building and shows us how the new republic was slowly gaining stability after the galactic Civil War. Nor much of note after that. The narrator struggled to do a Poe Dameron impression that was passable. He also butchered babu frik, however, I think most would too. it was definitely just an eeh story.

a brilliant start to the high republic

this is a very creative way to introduce a new Era to us. you get to have a detailed understanding of how the galaxy works without a standing military or without an established galactic republic. You see a version of the jedi that isn't as dogmatic and is more intune with the force. We see the birth of this threat to the jedi and the republic instead of it just being there. The only real flaws I see are with the huge amount of characters that are introduced in the beginning. however, we know they'll be apart of future stories so it's ok. Love how the nihil are a very different villains group on a different scale. I can't wait to see how these stories move forward. Awesome read!

Sequel is even stronger than the original

this is a great example of how you build on the original book in a series and make an amazing plot even better. Martin definitely homed his craft in this book. This is also where you'll see the first divergences from the show. I loved season 2 of the show but this was amazing.

The Shepherd we didn't deserve

Kenneth Bailey gives a very thorough understanding of what a biblical shepherd looks like. it can be difficult to listen to sometimes, he is an academic professor after all. He'll guide you through every cultural nuances that could only be picked up from actually living in the middle of that society for 40 years. in the end, you'll be compelled to live out the walk of the Good Shepherd.

a narrow and focused case study of Buffet's ideas

this really is a very detailed and deep dive into Warren Buffet's thoughts and practice of focused investing. the math lines up. The theories are logical. Along with some education and rationality in the book. you really can gain a lot from this book.

this is an astonishing read. I think this really dives deep into the psyche of real world experiences and explores them in our beloved star wars galaxy. there's many present day issues in 2020 that I think this book can help people connect to. Plus the world building and political machinations are top notch. well worth a read.

religion and manipulation

this is a very interesting case study into the psychology of faith and how it can manipulate entire civilization. i do really enjoy seeing the way it plays into the politics and actions of the leading rulers. the writing style can be hard to listen to because the pacing isn't very western but a great story nonetheless. As someone who is very religious, this gives me great insight into how others can feel about my faith. I always wonder what it would look like if the USA collapsed. I think this is very close to the answer.

not a normal star wars book.

quite simply. this is a star wars zombie novel. not a lot of lightsabers or blasters. it gives you some insight on how the Sith operate. It's definitely enjoyable but you'll definitely need a liking for zombie stories as well.

I want the meal, not the sample

the story is good and I think this is a great premise for star wars. I don't think is doing any justice for anyone. this is a very choppy and weird abridged version of the story. doesn't really give you the meat and potatoes of the story. just the highlights. the narrator seems like he's never watched star wars before. misses all the voices. and the production is just sloppy. this is the worst audible book I've listened to so far.
