The Essence of Economics and Systems Thinking
Revisado: 08-15-24
Sowell has a talent for explaining very complex contexts and dismissing many myths and fallacies. This masterpiece is a practical course not only on Economics, but in Systems Thinking and Systems Dynamics. I wish I had met him decades ago! Do yourself and the world a favor and read this and others books by Sowell.

Historia
Bittersweetness recognises that light and dark, birth and death—bitter and sweet—are forever paired. As Bittersweet shows, our obsession with happiness is not making us happy, healthy or whole. It's only by embracing our darker emotions—as well as the light—that we discover our deepest meaning and connection, love and joy. It can change the way we work, the way we create and the way we love—for it is the hidden source of our love stories, moonshots and masterpieces.

Great complement to Quiet!
Revisado: 06-10-22
I read “Quiet” many years ago and that was a great revelation and support to me. Now Susan did it again, and I can deeply relate to “Bittersweet” in many ways. Although both subjects are not necessarily dependent, there is a strong connection between them, which made me even more aware of who I am and how to deal with life’s difficult and awesome moments. Give yourself this gift!

Historia
In a book of unprecedented scope Iain McGilchrist presents a fascinating exploration of the differences between the brain’s left and right hemispheres and how those differences have affected society, history and culture. McGilchrist draws on a vast body of recent research in neuroscience and psychology to reveal that the difference is profound: the left hemisphere is detail oriented, while the right has greater breadth, flexibility and generosity.

Probably the most relevant research of our times!
Revisado: 05-10-22
Dr. McGilchrist calls it “The Hemispheres Hypothesis”, but I think it’s out of humbleness. His meticulous and careful research shades so much light on vast areas of human history, psychology, art, philosophy, and even in modern technology and engineering. This and his newest book, “The Matter with Things”, should be mandatory reading in all college courses in any area. Do yourself a favor and read them!

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Revisado: 08-17-21
I usually don’t read/listen many fiction books, even less SciFi ones, but this was a pleasant exception. All the science is but a nice backdrop for the interestelar drama developing on stage. It was great to be surprised again and again, a roller coaster of emotions! I want a friend-engineer like Rocky! Thanks, Andy!

Historia
W. Edwards Deming details the system of transformation that underlies the "14 Points for Management" presented in Out of the Crisis. The "Deming System of Profound Knowledge", as it is called, consists of four parts: appreciation for a system, knowledge about variation, theory of knowledge, and psychology. Describing the prevailing management style as a prison, Deming describes how applying the System of Profound Knowledge increases productivity, quality, and people's joy in work and joy in learning.

Revisado: 03-18-19
A remarkable and inspiring account of a great leader and his faithful wife, who stood strong against a powerful humiliation machine, and not only directly influenced all around them, but set the model for millions worldwide, and particularly for their son to amplify it even more during the following decades. These are true heroes to be imitated.

Historia
Based on a far-reaching study of thousands of individuals, Finding Flow contends that we often walk through our days unaware of and out of touch with our emotional lives. Our inattention makes us constantly bounce between two extremes: During much of the day, we live filled with the anxiety and pressures of our work and obligations, and during our leisure moments, we tend to live in passive boredom.

Historia
Karen Hough doesn't want you to be "perfect". People fear public speaking because they worry about having to conform to all sorts of handed-down rules that tie them up in knots and put their audiences to sleep. It's authenticity and passion that win people over, she says, not "polish". But you can't be authentic if you're following guidelines that drain the life and personality out of your presentation. Hough debunks over a dozen myths about presenting to make it more fun and natural for everyone.

Revisado: 03-05-18
Thanks to Karen’s brilliant contribution, I’m getting worse as a typical presenter! I keep forgetting the “essential” normal rules and techniques, and assuming more “bad” ones. I’m warning any future reader/listener of this book! Don’t open it, or you will get worse as well! “Because I’m bad! I’m bad! You know it!” Michael Jackson

Revisado: 04-23-16
I could have written this story, and apart from being rich, most of it would be my autobiography! Of course it would not be as captivating and thrilling as Cline did so well, so kudos to him!
If you lived on that golden era, make sure you listen to it! Wil did a phenomenal narration! I will surely listen many more times!
A million thanks to my lovely game designer and adorable daughter, Stella Maris, for referring this book to me! Yes, darling, you will write stories and create games so engaging and memorable as this one! Love you always!
