The narrator did a fair job reenacting the Golden Girls, but overall a “Meh”

The concept was too fun to pass up and I enjoyed reliving the Golden Girls days. The author kept pretty darn true to the characters…but the story was loose-even by cozy standards and the same words “St. Olaf,” “St. Olafians,” “tradition,” and “cheesecake” made up for about 50% of all the words in the entire book. After a while it felt like there was a quota per page that had to be met. The narrator did a good job with the voices-recreating the Fab Four couldn’t have been easy but overall I was not left wanting more.

Needed something to pass the time while doing weekend chores and waiting for next credits to hit my account. It worked for that. It’s fine for tuning in and out.

Devouring the series. Honestly just plain fun. Agatha’s character has been a little meandering but not enough to detract from the series. Try it!

This is a new narrator for me and he was fantastic. And it’s an Agatha Christie so what more needs to be said? Worthy of your time! I’m

I love cozy mysteries. This one had a cute enough premise but the author hammers away at making characters, the town of Mistletoe and everything in it wholesome and sugary sweet. Literally.
I don’t think she goes more than a page without describing-in detail-some dessert that someone is eating. It’s weird. Every single visitor and resident eats dessert for every meal and in between meals.
Really, really bizarre-you’d think it was set in a sweet shop.
This one was too too too cutesy and sweet for me.

The series itself is entertaining but probably not going to be an all-time favorite. Definitely has some interesting plot lines and character development.

I couldn’t get past Neil Kaplan’s narration in the series the first time around while listening with my oldest son, so I walked away from the series a few years ago. When my youngest started reading these, I tried to get back into them so we could discuss. I made it through, but Kaplan’s narration hasn’t improved with age. Honestly the worst casting... EVER. His voice is wrong for a teenage heart-throb, hero type...but John isn’t his worst performance. He DESTROYS the female characters. Six, Marina, Sarah-they all sound whiny and grating and really unlikeable. His Sam-voice is insufferable. He sounds like a cartoon character with an exaggerated stuffed up nose. His does a pretty good Henri, Nine and the adult male characters are not bad but they can’t carry the performance.
The rest of the narrators are decent and help ease some of the pain of listening to the worst of the book.

The story was not particularly twisty or suspenseful. It was awfully convenient at times and even just plain unrealistic. Everyone in this book falls instantly and irreversibly in love-is that really how it works?…Safe to pass on this one.

I didn’t find the story portion of this book quite as enjoyable as previous books but still wouldn’t have missed it. :)
Ms. Blackborow did an excellent job picking up where the wonderful Katherine Kellgren left off, yet she still made it her own. The only voice I didn’t think she quite pulled off was Darcy’s but it was still a great effort.

Not at all what I expected. So. Forced. No imagination, no point, no suspense -this was a waste of a credit and time. Narrator was fine-did a decent job with characters.

This book wasn't particularly compelling, suspenseful or surprising. I never felt an emotional connection to a single character. The performances were each fine but it is cheating when you have multiple narrators -there are plenty of books/series where every character is played masterfully by a single narrator. Jim Dale, Davina Porter, Roy Dotrice-all different genres but amazing readers...
