Survival manual for victims of narcissistic abuse
Revisado: 03-20-25
I've loved the author's other books, but she's really outdone herself with this one. It's crammed with helpful and practical advice on how to protect yourself from narcissistic abuse.
If you're ready to take action and reclaim your power from the narcissist in your life, this book is the one you've been waiting for

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Con Artist's (outdated) Handbook
Revisado: 02-01-25
Monotonous narrator. Dated content. This book is all about how to victimize and manipulate other people. I got it because I wanted to be prepared against people who might use these tactics against me. But dragging myself through this book has been tedious and snooze-worthy. It would have been nice if some of the stories and examples were from the last hundred years, but no. I am so sick of hearing about Napoleon and the ancient Greeks. I have taken very little practical information from this book and cannot recommend it as a serious tool for people who want to be prepared against con artists

I've loved nearly every book this author has written, but this one is my new favorite. It has everything you need: a gritty female hero, goblins, magic, violence and love, betrayal and vengeance. And Corvids, of course! Do yourself a favor and get lost in this book!

Great, but...
Revisado: 06-14-24
This book is a fascinating look at how to get maximum engagement and productivity out of your work team. It makes sense, and it makes you want to learn more.
The problem is "learning more" means you need to purchase the assessment on the author's website. Which means this audiobook is basically a lead magnet to get you to purchase the assessment and a higher ticket program after that.
It would've been a nice gesture for the author to give some sort of a discount for people who have already purchased his book but that's not the case.
So bear this in mind. This book is enjoyable and intriguing, but it's just a tease to get you to buy the author's assessment and programs on his website

It's all about me me me
Revisado: 04-07-24
I'm glad so many others have found this book helpful but it's been a bit of a turn-off for me. Jamie speaks incessantly about herself, her victories, her fairytale story, etc. As a life coach, we are taught to never use ourselves as an example to others because it's not relatable and it comes across as just plain arrogant
The thing I found most annoying was the constant celebrity name-dropping. I have lost count of how many times she's bragged about meeting Oprah, being on Oprah's show, having Oprah's phone number, going to Oprah's house, on and on and on. She never misses a chance to drop the name of one of her celebrity friends into every story.
I also found it annoying that for the first 40 minutes of the book, she's still selling the book. At the 30-minute mark she was reading her extensive list of reasons why "this book is for you if…", and I yelled at my phone "I already bought the damn book! Get on with it!"
This book is probably for you if you've never done any kind of self development work in your life before. This book may also be for you if you enjoy celebrity gossip and beauty magazines. All I can say is I've had enough.

Not enough substance
Revisado: 12-20-23
The author leads up to and teases her actionable framework for building a business that thrives on referrals. She almost tells you what you need to know. She gives you enough of an appetizer to make you hungry but does not deliver the actual meal. To get that, you'll need to buy her program… And this book is just a four hour lead magnet to get you there.
That's not necessarily a bad thing except for the fact that lead magnets are usually FREE nuggets of value to get you interested in buying the bigger ticket item. Having to pay for a lead magnet that I thought was actually going to teach me something leaves a pretty bad taste in my mouth and does not inspire me to join her program.

Historia
Once upon a time Rolling Stone contributing editor Erik Hedegaard became the last mainstream media journalist to interview Charles Manson. But the story he wrote for RS in 2013 didn’t begin to capture the strange and lingering effect Manson would have on his life. Now, in this Audible Original, you’ll hear about the making of that story, including audio of the phone calls Hedegaard received from Manson on a regular basis, interviews he conducted with Los Angeles District Attorney Vincent Bugliosi, as well as conversations he had with Manson Family members.

Terrible audio quality
Revisado: 07-22-23
The recorded calls between Charles Manson and the author are such poor quality audio that I couldn't understand what Charlie was saying most of the time. Granted, this was probably the best they could do at the time but when I'm listening in the car with lots of background noise, I can't understand a word he's saying. Probably beyond the author's control but it was still frustrating and definitely killed my enjoyment of the book

Historia
Most people are both repelled and intrigued by the images of cold-blooded, conscienceless murderers that increasingly populate our movies, television programs, and newspaper headlines. With their flagrant criminal violation of society's rules, serial killers like Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy are among the most dramatic examples of the psychopath. Individuals with this personality disorder are fully aware of the consequences of their actions and know the difference between right and wrong....

Innocence cannot understand evil
Revisado: 06-10-23
People of good moral character and good intentions cannot understand the way a psychopath thinks. That's why books like this are so vitally important for "the rest of us", because awareness is key. When you know what to look for, you are that much less vulnerable to the human predators out there who are looking for a well intentioned person like you to take advantage of.
Even though the narration is a bit dry and boring, the information in this book is well worth putting up with it. If you think someone in your life might be a psychopath, or if you just want to be prepared so you can see them coming and get out of the way, this book is well worth your credit.

Dr. George K. Simon knows how people push your buttons: your children---especially teens---are experts at it, as is your mate. A coworker may quietly undermine your efforts while professing to be helpful, or your boss may prey on your weaknesses. Manipulative people have two goals: to win and to look good doing it.

Narration pit me into a coma
Revisado: 06-04-23
Even listening to this book on faster than normal speed, the narrator is monotonous and, inducing. The writing style is also very antiquated, every sentence is its own never ending paragraph. It felt like listening to a 1950s news broadcast.
The content itself is interesting if you can get past the way it's written and the way it's narrated
Overall, my reaction was "thank God!" when I heard the words: "this concludes In Sheep's Clothing"

I think of myself as a super introverted awkward person who has a hard time connecting and communicating with other people. This book and the PDF & bonuses that come with it are like an owner's manual for dealing with other people. Exactly what I needed!
