Historia
From 1915 to 1970, this exodus of almost six million people changed the face of America. Wilkerson compares this epic migration to the migrations of other peoples in history. She interviewed more than a thousand people, and gained access to new data and official records, to write this definitive and vividly dramatic account of how these American journeys unfolded, altering our cities, our country, and ourselves.

Fascinating, enlightening, beautifully read. I really feel that I gained a deeper understanding. And I cared about the main interviewees- their gifts and flaws. Thank you.

Newly married and navigating life with a preschooler as well as her adopted adolescent son, Manon Bradshaw is happy to be working part-time in the cold-cases department of the Cambridgeshire police force, a job that allows her to potter in, coffee in hand, and log on for a spot of Internet shopping - precisely what she had in mind when she thought of work-life balance.

Richly rewarding
Revisado: 09-26-22
It terrible that Ms Steiner has died. Each book got stronger, characters more complex, with deeper internal lives, and each mystery was complex, and NOT telegraphed before you finished. Excellent series, very glad I listened.

Historia
As dusk falls, a young man staggers through a park, far from home, bleeding from a stab wound. He dies where he falls, cradled by a stranger, a woman's name on his lips in his last seconds of life. Detective Manon Bradshaw handles only cold cases. Five months pregnant, in pursuit of a work-life balance rather than romantic love, she's focused on being a good mother to her two children: her adopted 12-year-old son, Fly Dent, and the new baby.

Wonderful
Revisado: 03-30-22
Kate Bowler is immensely talented. I so appreciate her ability to describe her experience, her thoughts and feelings about it. I am particularly grateful for her insight into what it means to be a study participant. Eye opening- everyone in Medicine should listen to her story. The primary value will of course be to cancer patients and their loved ones. But this is universal in scope. A marvel.

Historia
Eve Adams was a rebel. Born Chawa Zloczewer into a Jewish family in Poland, Adams emigrated to the United States in 1912. The young woman befriended anarchists, sold radical publications, took a new name, and ran lesbian-and-gay-friendly speakeasies in Chicago and New York. Then, in 1925, Adams risked all to write and publish a book titled Lesbian Love. In The Daring Life and Deadly Times of Eve Adams, acclaimed historian Jonathan Ned Katz has recovered the extraordinary story of an early daring activist.

Appropriately Titled, glad I listened
Revisado: 09-01-21
Thank you Dr Katz, for this remarkable story, and for putting it in context. As a Jewish Lesbian, I really appreciate the opportunity to learn about Eves very daring life. I am particularly glad to learn of woman, who clearly made her way by her wits. Also really glad to learn about Emma Goldman and others in their orbit. Ms Nordlinger, you have a beautiful voice. I don’t know if it’s due to the way this was edited, but your tone, cadence and pitch are so constant as to be confusing in places where changes would have been helpful- as a shift in character perspective, or content- it’s a bit disconcerting to hear the progressive events of the Nazi rise to power , the collaboration with the French, etc, read with the same tone with which the happier events of Eves life were recounted.

LOL
Revisado: 07-12-21
I did LOL at a number of pieces! Glad to be introduced to comedians I wasn’t aware of before. One frustration: the chapter listings in the audio book do not list the author. I tried to find the content listings on lone, at the book’s website, couldn’t find it. Did find a list of the contributors w head shots, and a short link. That is helpful.

Amusing and Informative
Revisado: 09-08-20
Hilarious actually, I bought it by accident but now do not regret it :-). The production values are fantastic, like learning zoology from Monty Python. I wish she would tackle something more difficult for me, like immunology or genetics. That would be an enormous public service to scientists in training everywhere.
