Historia
Just Ride is a revelation. Forget the ultralight, uncomfortable bikes, flashy jerseys, clunky shoes that clip onto tiny pedals, the grinding out of endless miles. Instead, ride like you did when you were a kid—just get on your bike and discover the pure joy of riding it. A reformed racer who’s commuted by bike every day since 1980, whose writings and opinions appear in major bicycling and outdoor magazines, Grant Petersen shares a lifetime of unexpected facts, controversial opinions, expert techniques, and his own maverick philosophy.

I just love hearing him write about bikes.

Nothing fancy here. No witty prose, just a love for the art of riding one of the most beautiful inventions known to man.

Author’s Performance, No Concept of Pacing or Beat
Revisado: 02-14-24
Great book and very informative. Like a mixtape of mental models, very useful. However audio form may be better suited for a professional performer. Author seems to be rushing through the material, not concerned with natural pacing of conversation. He reads like an elementary school student asked to read to his peers - uninterested and eager to get over with it.

Historia
What makes “cults” so intriguing and frightening? What makes them powerful? The reason why so many of us binge Manson documentaries by the dozen and fall down rabbit holes researching suburban moms gone QAnon is because we’re looking for a satisfying explanation for what causes people to join - and more importantly, stay in - extreme groups. We secretly want to know: could it happen to me? Amanda Montell’s argument is that, on some level, it already has.

Not as Great as Reviews Say
Revisado: 11-01-23
I imagine this is a very difficult topic to write a book about. So I applaud the author for taking this on. If she is a linguist by academia, her writing is very opinionated. This is not a book about cults, but more about cultish behavior, which she does make her point successfully. However there is not much counterpoint to her writing, and if there is, the repetition of the MLM and fitness culture jabs made me give up on this ultimately.
If you are into books like Helter Skelter or other true crime novels, this ain’t it. Half fact based and half opinion don’t mix for me.

Historia
Richard Dawkins' brilliant reformulation of the theory of natural selection has the rare distinction of having provoked as much excitement and interest outside the scientific community as within it. His theories have helped change the whole nature of the study of social biology, and have forced thousands to rethink their beliefs about life.

I would return it if I could
Revisado: 07-11-23
Based on the reviews, I purchased this book. I found the audio to be really confusing and hard to follow the ideas because of constant interjections.

If I Can Only Listen to One Book My Entire Life
Revisado: 07-07-23
This is it. Every listen is something different. Every listen is like answering a question I hold inside, and another arises. This book is for me as I hope it is for you. So grateful for this audio book version. It made me want to get the book as well. The narrator helps the words resonate. Some moments really pull me in and almost bring me to tears.

Snoozer
Revisado: 08-16-22
I’m sure people enjoy this book, but seems self indulgent type of writing for me. No disrespect to the writer, but this is just not for me. Too wordy perhaps. Maybe if the author didn’t read her own words, it would be much better.

Historia
The Evolution of Everything is about bottom-up order and its enemy, the top-down twitch - the endless fascination human beings have with design rather than evolution, with direction rather than emergence. Drawing on anecdotes from science, economics, history, politics, and philosophy, Matt Ridley's wide-ranging, highly opinionated opus demolishes conventional assumptions that major scientific and social imperatives are dictated by those on high.

Bad Recording

The content and performance are great. The recording for this audiobook goes in and out very frequently. Not a pleasant listen especially if you’re trying to digest complete ideas.

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Narration Falls Short
Revisado: 05-14-19
Such an amazing story and the person reading is right above tolerable. Dont know why people cant read in a regular tone. Like the way they would say it. Not too hard. But the story is so powerful that it doesnt even matter. The reader is smart, I’m sure, but sounds like he’s playing pretend quite often.
