Satisfying end to a wonderful story
Revisado: 06-15-16
Naomi has brought us to a wonderful conclusion at the end of a inspired series. The books action ebbs and flows well, neatly tying up loose ends. The story has a satisfactory and neat ending. I am sad to see Temeraire coming to a close I have immensely enjoyed this series and will definitely pick it up again to enjoy the banter of dragons. I hope we get to see more of temeraire in the future even though this chapter is closed. The book does not linger in port as it were taking the reader on unexpected adventures. The combat does not drag on incessantly and this allows the reader to take a broader view of the state of Europe. I defiantly recommend this book to any that have enjoyed the series and highly recommend the series as a whole. I can't wait to see what Naomi thinks up next!

Misunderstood
Revisado: 02-07-16
I have been reading through the reviews, and I am surprised at some of them. I think that this book is under-appreciated. This book is not a fast paced action book, much like the first one the plot points are subtle and aren't approached directly. If you like quick action, battles and a fast moving plot, this might not be the story for you.
However, this book is very good at what it does. It is a discovery of the university, and the characters. This book is heavy on the characters, and their interactions with each other. There isn't a quick explanation but more of a mystery as the characters discover each other's purposes.I definitely recommend this book if you enjoyed the first one and are interested in how the story develops. I will say that it leads to on to a wonderful finish to the trilogy. I would not consider this a 'filler' book though the events that Sonea goes through is important to having a base for the rest of the series.
To really enjoy the story I would recommend that the reader go in with an understanding of what to expect. I also enjoyed Richard Aspel's narration not the best but his voice was pleasant to listen to and he gave some depth to the characters.

Life should have been easier for Sonea, now that Regin ignored her and the rest of the novices treated her with wary respect, but she cannot forget what she witnessed in Akkarin's underground room, or his warning that Kyralia's ancient enemy is watching the Guild closely.

Great end to a great trilogy
Revisado: 02-07-16
I really enjoyed this book series. I read the books and then sought them out in audiobook format. I really liked Sonea as a character and It was wonderful to actually get to know Akkarin. The book moved at a nice pace, not to fast of slow. The fighting scenes were really interesting to read. I liked that they weren't your classic run and dodge events. I am glad we get to revisit this world again in Canavan's next trilogy. I have read all the books set in this world and I will again too.

As catastrophe approaches, the machine then reveals that it is within its power to withdraw the omen....

Dissapointing
Revisado: 02-07-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Not necessarily, I have listened to all of Goodkind's books before this and really enjoyed them. However, I feel like this book and subsequent books is dragging out and ruining an amazing series.Confessor ended, and it was an perfect ending It should have stopped there though and left on a high note. I also started to notice in Phantom and more so in Confessor but Goodkind repeats himself endlessly. The same arguments are rehashed by different characters over and over again. He didn't do this in his past books, but was very precise in his writing. However, in The Omen Machine there seems to be a lot of fluff and it is very repetitive, his readers aren't unintelligent so stop writing like we are. My last issue is that the premise of The Omen Machine is difficult to swallow I feel like the whole idea is contrived and unimaginative. Also adding in another land and villain seems a little too convenient
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would have changed the Machine's location to make it more believable. I also would have found a different way of introducing the Third Kingdom, compared to D'hara and the rest of the world it is misplaced.
Have you listened to any of Sam Tsoutsouvas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, he did a great job reading this book and it compares well to his other performances. However, it could not muster up enough force to save this book.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Honestly, probably not I am just too dissapointed in the whole thing. I will pretend this book doesn't exist and give Richard and Kahlen a happy ending.

My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Love love love!
Revisado: 02-07-16
Would you listen to The Wise Man's Fear again? Why?
Absolutely, this has quickly become one of my favorite book series. The plot line is so well developed and it leaves you desperately trying to guess what will happen next! This book is truly a work of art not one word is out of place, there isn't one burr or useless moment. I cannot wait for book 3.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wise Man's Fear?
Any scene with Elodin in it, he is hilarious.
What about Nick Podehl’s performance did you like?
He is a fantastic narrator I have listened to many narrators and he is right near the top of my list. Each character has a distinct voice and the accents are perfect, they are unique to the story and not just the normal accents you hear. He adds a wonderful element to this story I have listened to books just because he is the one who narrates it.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Definitely, so many funny moments in the books and dark ones as well no tears however, they are dispersed enough throughout the book so neither mood is too overwhelming.
Any additional comments?
I recommend this series to everyone and anyone, a must read for sure!

Enjoyable Sequel
Revisado: 02-07-16
Would you listen to Catching Fire again? Why?
I would listen to Catching Fire again, and have listened to the story again. The beginning of the book is a little slow compared to The Hunger Games, even though scenes are skimmed over, the second half however, picks right up and continues at a furious pace. The book is decently put together with nice literary elements.
What other book might you compare Catching Fire to and why?
I would say it is a better developed version of Divergent, the plot lines are more intricate and the characters are fleshed out. This can be compared to Battle Royal however in the Kids in an arena type situation, but I feel that there are enough differences that make this to simplistic as a comparison.
Which scene was your favorite?
One of my favorite scenes was with Katniss and Peeta on the train really trying to understand and learn about each other.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not to include spoilers but the moment the 75th Hunger Games was announced was a toughing moment. The reactions of the characters felt very real to me.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Entertaining Read
Revisado: 02-07-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I really enjoyed this story, it was well put together, the story was fast paced but not rushed. This is a YA book but I still found in interesting to read. I hadn't read many dystopian novels before this but I liked this one. Turning reality TV on it's head and making it a gladiator type event really causes the reader to think about our modern society and where it is going. The reader can make comparisons to the modern world if you consider the consumerist ways that modern countries have vs. the third world manufacturing countries. If you have watched the movies yet never picked up the book they are definitely worth the read.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Katniss as a main character. she has her flaws but she tries to overcome them. Yet, she can also fight and fend for herself it was a nice change from the "Damsel in distress story line."
What does Carolyn McCormick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I am not usually fond of female narrators, as they don't do male voices as well but she did a great job. She added a nice layer to the story and played the parts well. I liked that she has a lower voice so it didn't come off as too high pitched.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
A few chuckles, but nothing to bring me to my feet.
