Historia
While evangelicalism dukes it out about who can be church leaders, the rest of the 98 percent of us need to be well equipped to see where we fit in God's household and why that matters. Recovering from Biblical Manhood and Womanhood is a resource to help church leaders improve the culture of their church and disciple men and women in their flock to read, understand, and apply Scripture to their lives in the church. Until both men and women grow in their understanding of their relationship to Scripture, there will continue to be tension between the sexes in the church.

Historia
One of the most cunning and merciless officers of the First Order, Captain Phasma commands the favor of her superiors, the respect of her peers, and the terror of her enemies. But for all her renown, Phasma remains as virtually unknown as the impassive expression on her gleaming chrome helmet. Now, an adversary is bent on unearthing her mysterious origins - and exposing a secret she guards as zealously and ruthlessly as she serves her masters.

Good story & narration -- DISTRACTING sound design
Revisado: 02-13-18
Delilah wrote a good story, January told a good story, but man oh man...
I had a really difficult time listening to this book because the sound design was SO distracting. There's music, robotic beep-boops, animal cries, wind sounds, weapon clangs and a ton more, and it is under EVERY SECOND of the book. It was like they were trying to produce an audio-movie, but it prevented me from being able to form pictures in my own mind, and kept me from getting into the story.
I'd buy this book again, but I'd buy it as a paper book, NOT an audio book.

Historia
What was so special about the Tyndale Bible? How does it sound to us today? The first text of the Bible to be printed in English was the New Testament of William Tyndale, published in 1525-6. Its repercussions lasted for almost a century, stimulated by the religious intolerances of the age, and Tyndale's influence can be seen in most of the Bible translations over the next 100 years, not least in the language of the King James Bible of 1611 - as this recording of Saint Matthew’s Gospel in the pronunciation of Tyndale’s own time makes vividly clear.

I only wish it was the full Bible
Revisado: 01-17-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
ABSOLUTELY. Anyone who regularly reads the KJV needs to listen to this. Seeing the difference between Tyndale and the KJV is interesting, but the real benefit is the OP. Hearing the Scriptures in this accent/pronunciation removes the distance between you and the text. After a few minutes the old-timey language and grammar doesn't sound old-timey anymore. It feels fresh, and close, and urgent in a way that is difficult to communicate. I desperately wish that David Crystal would do a full KJV audio bible in OP. I would recommend this to anyone who finds the thee/thous goest/doth language of the KJV to be dense and discouraging. After listening to it in this accent, it feels clear as water, and not formal or highfalutin at all. For language nerds, this is also super cool to hear the OP which you can tell is a sort of "mother-accent" to a dozen modern English accents.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Super fun listen.
Revisado: 05-16-14
Any additional comments?
This book was an EXCELLENT listen. Wil Wheaton did a fantastic job with the narration, but the book -- the story itself -- was the most fun I've had with a book (audio or otherwise) in a long while. I'm not really even a Star Trek fan (only seen a handful of episodes in my life), and I still enjoyed the heck out of this.

Draaaaaaags.
Revisado: 07-13-10
I love DeMille, and Scott Brick is my favorite narrator, but this audio book is painfully slow. I am in part three of four (it has taken me several months to slog through this many hours) and there's no indication that the plot is going to pick up any time soon. I feel like I've listened to the same two hours of audio 15 times.
My recommendation is that you skip this one and go listen to the John Corey series.

Revisado: 12-15-09
I was left with an extra credit and used it on this short collection of stories by Sedaris -- I laughed all the way through and my only complaint was that I wish it hadn't ended so soon.
Sedaris is one of the most intelligent and sly humorists out there, and is best appreciated when he's reading his own material.

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Required Reading
Revisado: 12-14-09
It's not for nothing that this book is required reading in many schools now. Besides being a fantastic story, it's one that thinks deeply on the nature of leadership, morality, duty, honor, love, friendship, and power.
Many people will shy away from Ender's Game because they don't read sci-fi, but they shouldn't. I read it 5 years ago as a 20 year old woman who'd never picked up a sci-fi novel in her life, and loved it.
Not only was it the first sci-fi I'd ever read, it was the first audio book I'd ever listened to. It got me hooked and is still the gold standard. Rudnicki and the rest of the cast are pitch perfect all the way through.
Very highly recommended.
