Historia
The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

What would happen if millions of people around the world suddenly disappeared one day? In this fascinating apocalyptic thriller, best-selling Christian inspirational authors LaHaye and Jenkins pool their considerable talents to answer that question. Narrator Richard Ferrone's unusually deep and hypnotic voice will keep you right in the middle of this not-unimaginable end of the world nightmare.

Started good but got too religious.
Revisado: 09-14-24
The beginning of the book held my attention and I liked it to start. I understand the concept of the Rapture is a Christian belief but as the book progressed I found it got overly religion focused and preachy.

Twenty-five years after the end of the war, Noah Ainsworth is still preoccupied with those perilous, exhilarating years as a British SOE operative in France. A head injury sustained on his final operation has caused frustrating gaps in his memory—in particular about the agent who saved his life during that mission gone wrong, whose real name he never knew, nor whether she even survived the war.

The author did an amazing job with the characters and weaving in history to create their hardships and strengths. Highly recommended if you like espionage and historical fiction.

He accessed computers and networks at the world’s biggest companies—and however fast the authorities were, Mitnick was faster, sprinting through phone switches, computer systems, and cellular networks. He spent years skipping through cyberspace, always three steps ahead and labeled unstoppable.

Impressive yet tiresome
Revisado: 03-27-24
Kevin Mitnick and his social engineering skills are impressive! I was very engaged at the beginning of the book, but found it got redundant and tiresome by the end. I think part of it is he’s not a very likable character/person so you don’t get invested in his life outcome. It was example after example but with what felt like little story line or emotional pull towards him. Full respect to him and what he’s accomplished, but as a read I found it just alright.

Historia
Three top secret research scientists are presumed dead in a boating accident, but the kidnapping of their families the same day raises questions the FBI and local police can't answer, leaving them waiting for a ransom demand that will never come. Central Intelligence Agency analyst Chris Leroux stumbles upon the story, and finds a phone conversation that was never supposed to happen. When he reports it to his boss, the national clandestine services chief, he is uncharacteristically reprimanded for conducting an unauthorized investigation and told to leave it to the FBI.

Enjoyed this book a lot. Enjoyed the storyline, characters and the merge of worlds. Tough to listen to at times due to gruesome scenes. Narrator was good but I listen before bed and the volume of different characters would range so heads up if you’re a bed listener. Overall, recommend!

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

I’m glad I finally decided to listen to this book. The two stories/perspectives made it very interesting. The narrator did a great job. Recommend using a credit on this one.

When she arrives at the idyllic getaway, she’s pleased to find that the owner is a handsome man by the name of Calvin Wells—and he’s eager to introduce her to his easygoing way of life. Terrible
Revisado: 08-06-23
One of the worst books I’ve read. The writing is horrible and so is the storyline. Barely anything of interest happens until around chapter 40. The attempts at lust are cringeworthy. No characters are likable. And the male narrators voice makes the entire thing annoying and ick. Reviews made it sound like this author has good books but I would say this is not one of them.

Trying to get through this…
Revisado: 02-05-23
First chapter started off interesting but then the author decided to describe at length moments/people/etc that has nothing to do with the overall plot. It makes it hard to follow and highly uninteresting. Get to the point … I’m now using this book to fall asleep too (aside from when the narrator does a loud and poorly performed voice). Although I’m still trying to finish this - wouldn’t recommend.
