Beyond disappointing!

I loved this book, and the performance of Cassandra reading it. It filled my mine with images of that marsh land, and colors and the stories of the world there. Loved every minute of the book until the last 2 minutes, or thereabouts. I have never disliked the ending of a book like this before. It ruined everything that came before it. Sad. So many other ways to end it, and the single way that I bet one reader did not think of is how Delia ended this. To say disappointed is putting it mildly. Had I read ONE review that told me the ending was a disappointment, I truly would not have used a credit to get this book.

I bought this book and regret it. Well read, I will give it that. BUT, the story / book needs a warning attached that it is about Child Abuse and abduction. I couldn't even finish half of it. Depressing to say the least. Wish I could return it!

I adore historical books, and although this is fictional, it was a wonderful read. I started reading this book, only to switch happily to the audible version which I truly enjoyed listening to. While the current corona virus hysteria is ongoing at this time, it was fascinating to read this story of the plague at this tome. Comparisons abound. Anna will hold a place in my heart for her compassionate ways. Thank you Geraldine Brooks for sharing your wonderful gift.
