Wish there had been more ghost stories

I thought it was going to be set in radio station with lots of ghost stories. Ended up being more about the host of the show running around outside the station and learning about his past.

This was more "weird" horror than "scary" horror. Though the few ghost stories told by callers were great.

As for the narration, the book swaps characters a few times and the narrator doesn't do a very good job signaling these changes. Leading to more than a few "what, who is talking?" moments.

Overall, it is pretty well written, but has some flaws.

Still weird, still great

if you liked the first two, you'll like this one as well. I hope for more but honestly it is a great cap to the series if this is where the ride ends.

A thriller, not a mystery

A full cast was a nice touch, and I went in expecting something akin to "And then there were none" but while the story jumps around between pre-murder dives into several characters' lives, and post-murder brief glimpses of shock... it never goes into the who-done-it phase. Heck, it isn't even made clear who explicitly was killed before saying who did it and why in the same breath. So a pretty good thriller, but not a mystery by any means.

Fun YA mystery

Somewhere between a cynical Scooby Doo and Goonies mystery lies this book. The 4th wall breaking was a bit much at the beginning but became charming. You will probably have a better grasp of the humor and tone changes (literally) if you are aware of the author's non-literary work. Had a good time and hope for more.

Great mystery with odd premise

I definitely had a few eye-rolling moments when the mechanic that makes this story possible was being explained. And the start of the book is a little difficult to get through as the main character comes to terms with his lot in life. But once things got rolling it was a very enjoyable mystery full of interesting characters and lots of secrets. Even if you don't ever warm to why the mystery needs to be solved, the mystery itself is a good one. Definitely one of the more odd books in my collection, but one I enjoyed.

Incredible Narrator

I have been really enjoying these books. Fun adventures, quirky characters, and good guys you want to root for. And on top of all that, the Narrator is amazing and brings all these characters to life.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS BOOK IF IT IS YOUR FIRST BY THIS AUTHOR!! Very unfortunately, I did not know this. About halfway through the book a second narrator starts breaking down the story and gives her thoughts on who it might be, and also GIVES AWAY THE MURDERS OF OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES!!! I'm so freaking annoyed right now.

At times the reader's voices are very similar, making it difficult to know who is talking, but all in all an amazing book and very well read.

Lots of Fun

I already wrote up a review for another of the Volumes, so these are going to sound pretty much the same (since I got them all and have them as one big mash-up on my player for car rides). If you like old detective stories, you will like these. Full cast readings, great stories, and like-able characters. The only thing that you should be aware of is that the recordings are really old so the sound quality sometimes is poor, but still a good buy.
