Charming and funny
Revisado: 02-26-21
David Spade proves again he is not just another pretty face in Hollywood. As in his other book, he shared stories from his life and kept me laughing (most) of the way through. Smart, clever, and a witty listen showing how quickly 6 hours can fly.
I was grossed out on the porno chapter and decided to skip the last few minutes but otherwise it was very enjoyable.

Something for everyone
Revisado: 02-18-20
I loved this thought provoking novel. It’s part mystery, cop story, courtroom drama, and explores multi-dimensional concepts like no other book I’ve read. You’ll fall in love with the characters and wonder how long until a sequel is released. A really creative first novel by a writer with a unique voice who is carving out her own genre. A fast, enjoyable listen with an entertaining narrator. Give it a try!

Historia
David Spade is best known for his harsh "Hollywood Minute" sketches on SNL, his starring roles in movies like Tommy Boy and Joe Dirt, and his seven-year stint as Dennis Finch on the series Just Shoot Me. Now, with a wit as dry as the weather in his home state of Arizona, the "comic brat extraordinaire" delivers a memoir.

Historia
For the inimitable Lee Smith, place is paramount. For 45 years, her fiction has lived and breathed with the rhythms and people of the Appalachian South. But never before has she written her own story. Set deep in the rugged Appalachian Mountains, the Grundy of Lee Smith's youth was a place of coal miners, mountain music, and her daddy's dimestore. It was in that dimestore - listening to customers and inventing life histories for the store's dolls - that she began to learn the craft of storytelling.

Much loved by a long time reader
Revisado: 03-30-16
I didn't realize this wasn't another novel when I saw it pop up. What a pleasant surprise to hear the life story of one of my favorite authors. Hearing about the places and experiences that inspired her wonderful books was a treat. I laughed and cried all weekend listening.

Historia
The youngest, half-goblin son of the Emperor has lived his entire life in exile, distant from the Imperial Court and the deadly intrigue that suffuses it. But when his father and three sons in line for the throne are killed in an "accident," he has no choice but to take his place as the only surviving rightful heir. Entirely unschooled in the art of court politics, he has no friends, no advisors, and the sure knowledge that whoever assassinated his father and brothers could make an attempt on his life at any moment.

Not what I'd expect from a Hugo nominee. It is a charming read though and the narrator is engaging. It drags a bit though.

So depressing
Revisado: 06-11-13
What disappointed you about The Lost Quilter?
I loved the other books but this is so sad I want to slit my wrists listening to the story. Just a warning to the weary listening unless you have a prescription for anti-depressants you may want to skip this book in the series.
