Anita's Family.....Finally!
Revisado: 05-06-24
I own every Anita Blake Vampire Hunter
adio books narrated by Kimberly Alexis
The books are good, Ms. Alexis makes them "AMAZING!"
I would pay quadruple for Kimberly Alexis to narrate the books that the horrible stand in narrator completely destroyed.
I don't understand how L.K. Hamilton
is ok having her work turned to boring, weak, uninspired blah, blah, blah.........
and actually paid money, so her fans have to miss out on some important books in the 30 book, 30 years series.
"Please Ms. Hamilton, I know that I speak for most of your audio book fans, when I beg you to get Kimberly Alexis to narrate those books as well."
It's been a great trip so far. Why not go for the GOLD?

ANITA BLAKE IS BACK!
Revisado: 08-29-21
L.K. Hamilton has redeemed herself. I almost decided against buying this book. I am very happy that I did.
Writing a book that centers around "Rafael" and the wererats of St. Louis was an expected, but still wonderful surprise.
As a long time fan of L.K. Hamilton's work, here's hoping that she is back again with many more intriguing "Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter" novels.
Bring in parts of "Obsidian Butterfly", (one of her best, earlier works) was genius. I cannot wait for more!

JIM & JAMES are the Mythology of writer and narrator who bring a series of books to LEGEND!!
Revisado: 05-28-19
I am almost finished listening to "CHANGES" for the Fourth time. "THE DRESDEN FILES" series on Audible is my favorite thing to play in my art studio other than music.
"CHANGES", is part of a series of the absolute BEST contemporary fantasy fiction books ever written. Adding James Marsters as narrator for the Audible books is nothing short of Genius. James takes Jim's writing and paints a Masterpiece!
If you are looking for a new (to you) series of Contemporary Fantasy collection of audio books. Go to Audible and start listening. These books will change the way you look at the world. While working in my art studio and I need some inspiration, I just start a "DRESDEN FILES" novel, and Harry always brings me a Muse.
Killer books, just Killer!!

Getting Better and BETTER!
Revisado: 05-21-19
This is book four in a series that sort of sneaked up on me. I am ex Special Forces Marine Corps and a homosexual man.
The first book was just a fluke that sat in my Audible library for over a year. I finally got around to hearing it during a rock climbing self challenge. I am man enough to say that I actually cried a few times while listening.
Here is the thing. Charlie has a way of understanding guys like us somehow. I can't imagine how, but she almost has a complete handle on it. The sex in the books is extremely tame as compared to man on man in real life, but she makes the tender stuff sound really nice.
The love of my life was a Black Hawk pilot an Air Force Fly Boy and now we have our lives together and love the hell out of each other each and every day going on eleven years now. We got married, really married two years ago.... What a trip!
THANK YOU CHARLIE AND THANKS TO THE AMAZING NARRATOR WHO SOUNDS LIKE A MAN AND BRINGS ALL THE LAUGHTER, ANGER, HEARTACHE AND LOVE TO EACH CHARACTER'S VOICE AND PAINTS A SERIOUSLY COOL MOVIE USING CHARLIE'S WORDS. YOU BOTH MAKE GREAT PARTNERS AND MORE GUYS IN AND GETTING OUT OF THE MILITARY SHOULD TELL YOU HOW IMPORTANT YOUR WORK IS TO US. PEOPLE IN THE US WOULD FALL OVER IF THEY KNEW THE STAGGERING NUMBER OF HOMOSEXUAL MEN RISK THEIR LIVES EVERYDAY TO KEEP AMERICA FREE.
ONCE THAT SCALP REDUCTED ORANGE BLIMP MONSTER IS OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE, OUR COUNTRY CAN GET BACK ON THE ROAD TO BEING RESPECTED IN THE WORLD ONCE AGAIN.
SERIOUSLY KILLER BOOKS CHARLIE COCHET! CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR THE NEXT ONE, WHICH I WILL START IN 5 MINUTES! OOOORAAAAH!

A very good listen
Revisado: 04-23-19
A Geat Surprise! This book from beginning to end kept me wanting more. Although it is a relatively short book, it tied itself together and ended on a happier note than I thought it would. The descriptions of London at the turn of the century and the height of Occultism were spot on.
I particularly enjoyed the relationship between Simon and Robert during a time when being two gay men in a loving relationship was seriously against the law. The way they had to manoeuvre their private moments was sad, but had to be that way in that time.
If you are an eclectic listener of Audible books like I am, this is a really good addition to your library.

ANGEL CRAWFORD! WHITE TRASH, EATS BRAINS, LOVE IT!
Revisado: 01-08-16
Would you consider the audio edition of My Life as a White Trash Zombie to be better than the print version?
Of course the audio version is better with Allison McLemore at the helm. She does a deep Southern (modern) accent without overdoing it. All her characters have a distinct voice, their own drawl. Men, women, good guys, bad guys, rich, poor,
This and the other GREAT books in the series, I would not read. It's all about the Author and the Narrator mix. I am a professional Artist and Fitness Guru. I cannot read a book while working on a large painting. Will not run without a great book moving like a movie through my head. "My Life as a White Trash Zombie", is fun, funny and oddly touching.
What was one of the most memorable moments of My Life as a White Trash Zombie?
Good Question! The memorable moments seemed to be when Angel would overcome some belief she had about herself. You know those, "I'm too poor to be at this party", "Can the other women tell I can't afford couture, or can they see my own sense of style".,"Wow, I actually pulled the skin off the head, sawed it open and took the brain out!"
Having the guts to start studying for her G.E.D.
What does Allison McLemore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Like I said above, no matter how good a book is as written by the Author, when it comes to audiobooks, it is ESSENTIAL that the Author finds a Narrator who not only understands the book, but understands the Author on a deep artistic level. Also the Narrator must be a talented actor. In an instant they must become many characters, all with different voices, attitudes, wants, needs etc. that have to come out in their voices.
MY cheers goes out to the truly dedicated and talented Narrators who add the magick that a good audio book needs in order to gather the masses.
If you could take any character from My Life as a White Trash Zombie out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Since this is the FIRST book in the series, it would have to be Angel Crawford herself. I would have hundreds of questions. "What really went through your mind when you realized that you had to eat brains or fall apart and decay like a corpse?" "What does feeling -TANKED UP- really feel like"? "Can you see yourself working up to getting out of that, white trash, label, getting you and your Father somewhere better?" "When I say better I also mean healthier, better friends, basically out of the gutter, no offense".
Any additional comments?
Both the Author and Narrator just make your root for Angel. Some people will always use her social status to bring her down. Angel gets mad and does not give up. She and her Father have a shaky relationship, but it seems to be on the up swing.
It is hard to imagine your home drive way paved with smashed beer cans, but Angel Crawford is going to turn it all around. You just wait and see.

One of the BEST "Anita Blake VH" Novels written
Revisado: 11-07-15
I will be quick. I never review anything, but after all these years, I finally decided to just give the same kind of review most Laurel K. Hamilton fans have said about the "Anita Blake Vampire Hunter" series: "These incredibly thought out and masterfully narrated books WERE in my all time top three audible book series, worthy of more than two or three listens.
HOW VERY SAD THAT THIS WRITER DECIDED TO BRING IN HER OWN SEX LIFE TO THE EYES AND EARS OF HER FANS.
The first, maybe eight or nine books were incredible and then, tedious, boring and long winded descriptions of BORING, BORING SEX! i.e. "the front of his body found my opening,". ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?! THIS TYPE OF SHAMEFILLED DESCRIPTORS, ARE ENDLESS AND BEING A MAN ACTUALLY HAD BLOOD RUSHING AWAY FROM "the front of my body."

Historia
Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next. Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him.

You've Come Along Way Baby!!!
Revisado: 11-15-13
What did you love best about Warbound?
When the book was finished, I felt a sense of completion. The author brought it all together in the end. Yet, even with the comfortable finish of "completion", there we're many avenues left for the creative mind to follow and take their time. I'm waiting for the big thaw to put my two cents worth of literary finesse into an alternate finish to the book. I'M NOT WORTHY, I'M NOT WORTHY!!!!
What other book might you compare Warbound to and why?
"HARD MAGIC", because it is the first book in the series and you just have to give major credit to the author for coming up with the funniest and well read( by the narrator) character in all three books combined. Who is this person? Of course, non other than the dung heap ,red neck, devil child: Miss Sally Fae Viero!!!! Nuff Said!
What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I would not have gotten through the first chapter if not for Bronson Pinchot. Seriously, this guy sound like the 1930's, carries all the accents for a pile of characters and makes you believe that "this" is the world we live in. Bronson is right up there with James Marsters of Bufy fame and his simply amazing work on all of "Jim Butchers", "Dresden Files" novels. Best books on the planet of course.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES, Because I listened to the first two books hidden away from the world. I'm sure this book will take me on a long needed vacation like the other two did quite nicely.
Any additional comments?
Getting "into" the story and it's characters was actually FUN! Just the concept of derigables as our best and fastest form of transportation was a HOOT, not to mention the footnotes or beginning of chapters with long quotes from now dead important political, science and progressive historical stand outs with a slightly different message than the one's originally put to paper with ink and an important seal of some kind. But these alternative view points are exactly what would have been said, recorded and written down if our country had gone through the same situation.
