Historia
Iconic couples' therapist and best-selling author Esther Perel returns with a provocative look at relationships through the lens of infidelity, providing the insight we so desperately need to help us move beyond a simplistic discussion. An affair: it can rob a couple of their relationship, their happiness, their very identity. Adultery has existed since marriage was invented, and so, too, have the prohibitions against it - in fact adultery has a tenacity that marriage can only envy.

Historia
From the Nobel Prize winner and best-selling author of Snow and My Name Is Red, a fable of fathers and sons. On the outskirts of a town 30 miles from Istanbul, a master well digger and his young apprentice are hired to find water on a barren plain. As they struggle in the summer heat, excavating metre by metre, the two will develop a filial bond neither has known before - not the poor middle-aged bachelor nor the middle-class boy whose father disappeared after being arrested for politically subversive activities.

Mediocre Fiction
Revisado: 09-20-17
Pamuk writes again about the theme of Love and Mentorship. Not such a great book. there's no magic here. only leftovers used by pamuk to spin another book.

White take on being Persian
Revisado: 06-27-17
Had some problems where the white author tries to imagine the experience of an Iranian girl and gets caught in her own prejudices ..this is not great literature but an okay novel. read persian authors writing about the Persian experice if you want to get the real thing.

Historia
Peri, a wealthy Turkish housewife, is on her way to a dinner party at a seaside mansion in Istanbul when a beggar snatches her handbag. As she wrestles to get it back, a photograph falls to the ground. A relic from a past - and a love - Peri had tried desperately to forget. The photograph takes Peri back to Oxford University, as an 18-year-old sent abroad for the first time. It also takes her to her home with her two best friends, Shirin and Mona, and their arguments about Islam and femininity and to the scandal that tore them all apart.

very beautifully narrated.
Revisado: 03-26-17
Liked the book as I do with all books of Elif Shafaq. The beginning is wonderful! however lacks the depth and magic of forty rules of love or architects apprentice. Doesn't do much justice to exploring its theme of Muslim women and their dilemmas either. No closure.
and yet because I like the politics of Elif Shafaq I found the book engaging.
