The problem with lying about having a super weapon is that the bad guys might believe they have nothing to lose by doing something stupid that both sides will regret. Or, they might just call your bluff. Either way, the Merry Band of Pirates need a plan to deal with the Fallout.

Revisado: 12-31-21
Some of these reviews are doubting the awesomeness of this book. and yes, there's a lot of logistical crap to wade through, but the story needed that because things are complicated for the Merry Band of Pirates now. The ending here is great. Get there and please don't doubt the awesomeness.

Historia
NOFX: The Hepatitis Bathtub and Other Stories is the first tell-all autobiography from one of the world's most influential and controversial punk bands. Fans and non-fans alike will be shocked by the stories of murder, suicide, addiction, counterfeiting, riots, bondage, terminal illness, the Yakuza, and drinking pee. Told from the perspective of each of the band's members, this audiobook looks back at more than 30 years of comedy, tragedy, and completely inexplicable success.

Will appeal to fans of NOFX
Revisado: 04-25-21
It's a fun listen, great stories overall and some super interesting deep confessions from the band. really poignant at times. I would say it wouldn't appeal to anyone who is not already a fan of the band. I enjoyed El Hefe's and Smelly's chapters the best.
Fat Mike has the most chapters and as the leader of the band that's understandable, but so many of his chapters especially in the latter half of the book are about his coming to terms with his kinks and sexuality I found it a bit cringey. It's awesome that he as a person is able to come to terms with all that but it felt like the Fat Mike Confession hour for a long time and not the NOFX story.

Historia
Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost. The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

Long listening adventure.
Revisado: 02-20-20
Sometimes I felt a strong editor was in order in the middle to reign in Sanderson's sprawling universe then I realized the sprawling universe is absolutely the point. I genuinely believe in the axiom "Journey before destination..." but the end here versus Odium...the destination is worth it.

Historia
Six years after four family members died of arsenic poisoning, the three remaining Blackwoods—elder, agoraphobic sister Constance; wheelchair-bound Uncle Julian; and 18-year-old Mary Katherine, or, Merricat—live together in pleasant isolation. Merricat has developed an idiosyncratic system of rules and protective magic to guard the estate against intrusions from hostile villagers. But one day a stranger arrives—cousin Charles, with his eye on the Blackwood fortune.

Memorizing and darkly capitvating
Revisado: 07-08-19
If you are a fan of Shirley Jackson's work, this novella is a treat that further expands on her Gothic motifs established in other works like The Lottery. The sisters here share a potent secret and to my mind one of the strongest love stories I have ever read that borders on mania and obsession.

All in all is all we are.
Revisado: 06-29-19
Really catches Nirvana's meteoric rise, from obscure punk band to superstardom, you get a sense for how crazy those few years were for Cobain, the band and Goldberg. There is nothing really new here in terms of details about the band's life that an astute fan will not have already read about in other biographies, but Goldberg's court side viewpoint is unique. He has an authentic demeanor because he was there, a figure that Cobain called father, hearing Goldberg tell it sounds special. I'm grateful to him for sharing his viewpoint with me.

overall quite good.
Revisado: 05-23-17
Its like Ready Player One meets Starship Troopers. In fact there's nothing inventive about the soldier in power armor here, Starship Troopers and The Forever War did it better in the 1970s. And the fact that the main character is a "brony" in the 23rd century feels trite. But the story is fun to listen to. it's a nice adventure, rags to riches story. That central story is the saving grace here.

Revisado: 12-14-16
Good story, good voice acting and nice effects. but the book has little to no direct relevance to the film, simply providing back story of the Urso family. Don't get me wrong it's an interesting story but it's nothing truly special.

Great book by one of the greats writers of scientific romance! since it's not quite sci-fi yet. Biting social commentary on religion, empire, and the role of science in our lives that is as relevant today as 100 years ago. The reading performance is also spot on.
