Historia
Is everything connected? Can we sense what's happening to loved ones thousands of miles away? Why are we sometimes certain of a caller's identity the instant the phone rings? Do intuitive hunches contain information about future events? Is it possible to perceive without the use of the ordinary senses? Many people believe that such "psychic phenomena" are rare talents or divine gifts. Others don't believe they exist at all. But the latest scientific research shows that these phenomena are both real and widespread.

Dry narration, incredible content
Revisado: 07-09-20
This book was fascinating. I only found it difficult to engage in at first because the narrator’s voice seemed a bit dry. But it’s worth pushing through.

Historia
The Myth of Mirror Neurons, neuroscientist Gregory Hickok reexamines the mirror neuron story and finds that it is built on a tenuous foundation - a pair of codependent assumptions about mirror neuron activity and human understanding. Drawing on a broad range of observations from work on animal behavior, modern neuroimaging, neurological disorders, and more, Hickok argues that the foundational assumptions fall flat in light of the facts.

The narrator ruins it
Revisado: 06-23-19
I was so excited to get into this book. Unfortunately, I found it almost impossible to listen to the slow, monotone drawl of the narrator. Ben Stein reading this would have been a 100% improvement.

Historia
Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

Personification of material items
Revisado: 07-19-17
I suspect I'm not as thrilled by this book because I already supremely enjoy decluttering and found the tips in here to be very common sense. The entire book can be summed up in one sentence: Keep only the things in your life that spark joy. While I enjoy practicing gratitude toward all things, I found the author's reverence, almost worship of material possessions to be a bit worrisome. She grew up being emotionally neglected by her parents and became overly attached to inanimate objects. It made me feel sad for her. I'm glad she's found her life's calling, however.
