Historia
Elspeth and Ravyn have gathered most of the twelve Providence Cards, but the last, and most important, one remains to be found: The Twin Alders. If they are going to find it before the Solstice and cure the kingdom of the dark magic infecting it, they will need to journey beyond the dangerous mist-cloaked forest that surrounds their kingdom. And the only one who can lead them there is the monster that shares Elspeth's head. The Nightmare. And he's not eager to share any longer.

The series is just meh
Revisado: 04-10-25
The story is not very original but I kind of like it, my problem is in the execution. There’s not enough plot or character development to justify 4 very long books. All books are mostly filler nonsense, repetitive and annoying inner monologues of the fmc, relationship drama that many times feels very juvenile, over extended scenes that lead to nothing, overly detailed scenes of characters doing mundane boring things like cooking, eating, packing, dressing, etc.

Historia
With war looming, Emelin's plan is simple: break the Mother's bindings while her more diplomacy-minded friends persuade the rest of the world to join their rebellion. Unfortunately, their would-be allies are far too concerned about Em's exact connection to the feared and hated Silent Death. They might risk their lives for the world's only unbound mage, but they'll never fight for a fae prince's puppet. Forced to hide the explosive secret of their love, Em and Creon journey to the plague-cursed continent to learn more about the bindings.

So much fluff
Revisado: 04-05-25
This series should have been 2-3 books tops. The plot advances sooo little in each one and now by book 3 you can recognize the pattern of the author’s writing: 60%-70% of nearly nothing happening and then it’s starts to get good and moving towards the end… I could probably tolerate this if even when the plot is going nowhere things were interesting or entertaining but no, it’s almost just Emelin’s annoying, repetitive inner monologues. *spoilers ahead* Can’t stand Emelin in this book, she’s treating Creon horribly and letting everyone else dictate her actions and then when so much secrecy and stupidity blows in her face she acts hurt and surprised, ugh.
I’m hate listening to this series by now, but I’ll finish it for Creon haha

When her quest for Creon’s safety reveals glimpses of her own mysterious origins, she has no choice but to claim her place on the battlefield…or lose the male she loves forever.

Still not good
Revisado: 04-03-25
I’m liking the story, but you have to suffer with the mind numbingly boring, not much happening first 60% of the book. Every mundane non consequential thing is so unnecessarily extended and over analyzed. Then in the last 40% of the book the story finally gets going, things get interesting and I find myself debating if I should continue reading this books, because after 2 books with the same problems I know what I’m in for.
*mild spoilers ahead* I get Creon’s trauma but I feel his actions are written as if he was a troubled emo teenager. Also, are we supposed to believe a centuries old super effective warrior doesn’t know how to control his powers? The stupid insults of a bully put him on the brink of exploding, the hate of others mega overwhelm him to the point he can’t cope with anything, but on the other hand he conveniently masters most other aspects of his demon powers perfectly, ugh.

Boring
Revisado: 04-01-25
I was so bored for like 90% of this book. The premise is unoriginal (human girl kidnapped into a fae world) but I liked the magic and the mute mmc, but then nothing happens: there’s barely any side characters and the main couple remain stuck in a house for the majority of the book. *mild spoilers* This is pretty much an insta lust/love situation which could be good for a change from the slow burns I’ve been reading but then all the tension or complications arise from the fmc’s misinterpretations and jumping to conclusions which were annoying to me. Her inner monologues are endless and repetitive. The magic training is boring or simply forgotten for the most part.
I’m truly considering not continuing with the rest of the books.

Loved this trilogy of books. It’s all so unserious but still manages to be full of heart and emotion and gets you invested with the characters so deeply. The humor is great and the ending so good. Very recommended

Historia
Lady Ammalie Avington, Baroness of Faebarrow, has discovered the truth, and it should not come as a surprise: the blood mage who threatened, spellbound, and abducted her intends to bring ruin to the realm—the very one she is sworn to serve. It's just a terribly inconvenient fact to learn because, well . . . he's rather cute.

Still very good
Revisado: 03-29-25
I’m still enjoying this story very much! I did struggle at the beginning, as it felt a little slow and this book follows the same formula of the first: a quest adventure with Amma and Damien visiting many different places and meeting new interesting and funny people/creatures, so the novelty of the first book was missing. But the characters remain very entertaining, funny and endearing. The plot doesn’t advance much but there’s character growth for both our protagonists and their relationship and feelings for each other keep deepening. Overall it’s a very enjoyable listen and can’t wait to learn what happens next.

So much fun!
Revisado: 03-28-25
This book does not take itself seriously and I loved it for that! It’s so truly funny and at the same time wholesome it’s just such a good time. Loved Damien and I thought I would hate Amma in the beginning, but she’s well written and comes across so genuine and lovable because not all fmcs have to be angry, snarky badasses who know how to fight, it was so refreshing that she’s emotional, kind and smart. Such a treat this book!
