Historia
Valdez Jones VIII calls himself Wrecker because his great-great-great-great-great-grandfather salvaged shipwrecks for a living. So is it destiny, irony, or just bad luck when Wrecker comes across a speedboat that has run hard aground on a sand flat? The men in the boat don't want Wrecker to call for help—in fact, they'll pay him to forget he ever saw them. Wrecker would be happy to forget, but he keeps seeing these men all over Key West—at the marina, even in the cemetery. And now they want more than his silence—they want a lookout.

Carl Hiassen provides a great escape.
Revisado: 12-23-23
Carl Hiassen blends current events and interesting historical tidbits into another great story involving unique characters. A little less outrageous than some of his stories, but still blending important community issues with unique humor as only he can. Valdez VIII is a very likable compelling character.

Krakauer is a great adventure writer, but Brick is over the top on this one
Revisado: 04-10-20
Long time admirer of JK, and I have enjoyed Brick in the past, but on this one there is so much forced drama in every uttered word, it’s hard to enjoy.

Historia
Jonathan Vaughters' story is the story of modern cycling. From his early years as a keen cyclist in his hometown in Colorado to his unflinching rite of passage as a professional rider with US Postal to his elevation as one of cycling's most resilient, ethical, and intelligent team bosses, the highs and lows of his career have mirrored those of the sport itself.

Informative story told by a principled and passionate cyclist and director.
Revisado: 09-19-19
Jonathan bares his soul about his passion for cycling, his talent and the difficult decisions he made during his career as a cyclist and as a team director, including fascinating insight into the business of running a world tour team. The narrative about PEDs and blood doping helps a fan understand how it developed and progressed through his involvement in the sport. His reading is rapid and less than perfect, but occasionally, there are inflections that add to the authenticity. All cycling fans will realize how much we all owe to Jonathan for his contributions to the sport through a challenging period. Thanks Jonathan!

Historia
Decorated Navy SEAL Lieutenant Jason Redman served his country courageously and with distinction in Colombia, Peru, Afghanistan, and Iraq, where he commanded mobility and assault forces. But his journey was not without its supreme challenges. He was critically wounded in 2007 when he was struck by machine-gun fire at point blank range. During his intense recovery period, Redman posted a sign on his door, warning all who entered not to "feel sorry for [his] wounds."

Great story, well read! Really affected me.
Revisado: 12-27-13
What made the experience of listening to Trident the most enjoyable?
This is a lesson of personal redemption as Lt. Redman gets a second chance after nearly blowing his career. This is one committed Naval Officer! Erik Bergman is a very talented reader; he sounded really connected to the story which was surprising in its depth.
Which scene was your favorite?
The most powerful images in the book were when Lt. Redman was traveling for medical attention after suffering devastating facial injuries in battle. The reaction of fellow travelers upset him by the lack of awareness and appreciation for the sacrifice of the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Too many of us take those in our armed services for granted. My outlook has been changed. I am glad there are so many committed men and women out there looking out for us.
Any additional comments?
Every American citizen that enjoys the freedoms that too many of us take for granted should read this book! You will learn to be a better citizen.

Historia
From the outrageously filthy and oddly innocent comedienne and star of the powerful 2015 film I Smile Back Sarah Silverman comes a memoir—her first book—that is at once shockingly personal, surprisingly poignant, and still pee-in-your-pants funny. If you like Sarah's television show The Sarah Silverman Program, or memoirs such as Chelsea Handler's Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea and Artie Lange's Too Fat to Fish, you'll love The Bedwetter.

Laugh out loud funny, but...
Revisado: 08-14-10
Sarah is a great narrator and many of the stories were very funny and poignant, but the detailed description of each season of the show, and the participants was a little tedious. At times it seemed like an extended "acknowledgements" page. Overall, a worthwhile listen. Sarah is a true comic genius.
