Historia
A disastrous debate, a would-be assassin’s bullet, an electrifying eleventh hour candidate swap, dramatic and surprising VP selections, betrayals behind closed doors, charges of a stolen election, game-changing blunders—the history-making 2024 presidential election is a political saga of Shakespearean proportions. In minute-by-minute detail, esteemed White House historian and political analyst Chris Whipple chronicles the unprecedented drama as it unfolds.

Tremendously one-sided.
Revisado: 04-13-25
Everyone in Team Biden is wonderful and everyone in Team Trump is evil. That's basically the book. How about letting the reader make up their own minds by sticking to facts. If the author is going to do a deep dive into Trump and his associates, do the same with Biden. Narrator was very good, however.

Historia
Every generation, a journalist has looked deep into the heart of the nuclear military establishment: the technologies, the safeguards, the plans, and the risks. These investigations are vital to how we understand the world we really live in—where one nuclear missile will beget one in return, and where the choreography of the world’s end requires massive decisions made on seconds’ notice with information that is only as good as the intelligence we have. Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Jacobsen’s Nuclear War: A Scenario explores this ticking-clock scenario.

Terrifying and Engaging - Jacobson's best work!!!
Revisado: 07-21-24
Having served for two decades, including many instances of inter-agency work, Jacobson's consistently captures the nuances, the feeling, the environment of national security in a way that's very real. The topic is obviously researched in excruciating detail. I could not put this down.

Fun and engaging, but needs improvement.
Revisado: 04-13-24
Some of the content shows lack of knowledge of how SOF operates. "Delta" is rarely a term used by members of that unit. It's odd how often it is used in this book. The intimate scenes with the girlfriend are overdone and unnecessary. Also, the narrator kept mispronouncing Iran the entire book. However, the pace of the action is perfect. This is a book that is hard to put down. Advice to the author: Please, use the consult of an actual veteran of the "Unit."

Interesting and engaging, but sometimes ridiculous
Revisado: 03-20-24
Overall, I enjoyed the book. But, honestly, the protagonist might be the most unlucky character in any story I have ever listened to. It gets to the point that the fact that he overcomes it ruins the story as it turns it into an absolute absurdity that he lives through any of it. It is almost as if the author tried too hard to humanize his action hero.

Historia
Investigative journalist Matthew Cole tells the story of the most lauded unit, SEAL Team 6, revealing a troubling pattern of war crimes and the deep moral rot beneath authorized narratives. From their origins in World War II, the SEALs have trained to be specialized killers with short missions. As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan became the endless War on Terror, their violence spiraled out of control. Code Over Country details the high-level decisions that unleashed the SEALs’ carnage and the coverups that prevented their crimes from coming to light.

Well researched and narrated book
Revisado: 10-21-23
I served in SOF for 16 years, and I have been aware of most of the cases that the author cites and explores in this work. Nevertheless, it is a book worthy of note and consideration. Having been a member of an elite unit during my military career, I can attest to the fact that we are as flawed as any other group of people. Sure, we have certain qualities that are admirable, though specific to our career fields.. However, it is very important to maintain accountability within the SOF units. Hero worship is a unique American phenomenon, but it is hardly helpful when it comes to ensuring high standards. This book provides this perspective.

Nailed sheds light on ten beloved Christian myths, and, with evidence gathered from historians across the theological spectrum, shows how they point to a Jesus Christ created solely through allegorical alchemy of hope and imagination; a messiah transformed from a purely literary, theological construct into the familiar figure of Jesus - in short, a purely mythic Christ.

Clumsy approach into a very complex subject
Revisado: 12-16-22
I have read various works on the historical validity of Jesus of Nazareth for some time. I was hoping this work would be yet another well constructed study into the complex and oftentimes controversial subject that comprises the foundation of Christianity. While I can appreciate its simplistic approach as it lends itself to easier reading (i.e., a list), the actual framework of the book is flimsy. What is also interesting about this book is that the author goes out of his way to ridicule rather than to influence via well presented research. I found it odd that the author also manages to insert his politics into the book when contrasting one characterization of Jesus versus another, whereas the "mean" Jesus - to the author - is a Republican Jesus. If I wanted a book on partisan politics, I would have ordered that. I recommend Reza Aslan's book "Zealot" instead. Reza's book is not only better written and narrated (by the author, who is an actual expert and a renowned academic), but it flows from one end to the other so well because it is written such that it educates the reader as it moves into the complexity of the subject. "Nailed" is simply a poorly written that is clearly amateurish in its presentation. Save your money.

Historia
In layered prose and with thoughtful, accessible scholarship, Aslan narrates the history of religion as one long and remarkably cohesive attempt to understand the divine by giving it human traits and emotions. According to Aslan, this innate desire to humanize God is hardwired in our brains, making it a central feature of nearly every religious tradition. As Aslan writes, "Whether we are aware of it or not, and regardless if we are believers or not, what the vast majority of us think about when we think about God is a divine version of ourselves."

This was lectured years ago. It behooves us to listen. Liberal foreign policy approaches (not "liberal" in the US political sense, but as in one of the two dominant foreign policy frameworks) does not account for real nation-state power policy.
