Historia
On a hot August day in Paris, just over a century ago, a desperate guard burst into the office of the Director of the Louvre and shouted, La Joconde, c’est partie! The Mona Lisa, she’s gone! No one knew who was behind the heist. Was it an international gang of thieves? Was it an art-hungry American millionaire? Was it the young Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, who was about to remake the very art of painting?

A Mona Lisa Book Report
Revisado: 03-07-24
The writing was a simple telling of a good story. Once I got over the millennial sound of the reader, it was clear she was great.

Historia
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, The Covenant of Water is set in Kerala, on South India’s Malabar Coast, and follows three generations of a family that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning—and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century, a twelve-year-old girl from Kerala’s long-existing Christian community, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time.

Historia
Bill Bryson is an unabashed Anglophile who, through a mistake of history, happened to be born and bred in Iowa. Righting that error, he spent 20 years in England before deciding to repatriate. This was partly to let his wife and children experience life in Bryson's homeland - and partly because he had read that 3.7 million Americans believed that they had been abducted by aliens at one time or another. It was thus clear to him that his people needed him. But before leaving his much-loved home in North Yorkshire, Bryson insisted on taking one last trip around Britain.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Best Ever Performance
Revisado: 09-18-20
Yes, the story is epic. Yes, Mr. King’s writing draws the reader so willingly from moment to monumental moment. But the performance of the actor reading this audiobook-is Oscar-worthy. Incredible.

Thrilling and too close.
Revisado: 06-25-18
Having moved to Costa County in the late 80’s, I hadn’t heard of this predator in my neighborhood. Thank heaven. Chillingly accurate descriptions of neighborhoods on my regular cycling route brought this killer into sharp focus. The narrator was the best I’ve heard since Trevor Noah. Stellar.
