Historia
It's not a surprise that in 1924 The Man Nobody Knows, was repeatedly turned down by publishers. Comparing Jesus to a corporate businessman was just plain old sacrilege. But in this day and age, Barton's comparison of Biblical teachings, personalities, and situations, offer great insights into the basic principles of developing a successful business, encouraging a team, and supporting clientele.

Fictional,
Revisado: 04-25-24
My first challenge was how fast the book was narrated. It was easier to listen to once slowed down.
My next challenge could totally be chalked up to the time in which this book was written... It noted, the description of Jesus in the Bible was found to be a forgery (I thought "where is he going with this".) It likely to do with the time the author lived in, but this guy went on to describe the man Jesus told to get up and walk,"... looking up into those blue eye". The liberty he took is too much. The Bible does not need to be changed to fit someone's insecurity. And Jesus is no less awesome, appreciated, and The Son of God with hair of wool and skin of bronze.
I won't touch on the misogynistic under tones.
I wasted a credit on this fictional book.
So sad.

Historia
Mackenzie Allen Phillips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in this midst of his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack one wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change his life forever.

Amazing and Inspirational

This book is confirmation that God is still speaking to people. It takes you in a journey of healing. My husband shared he watched me go through a range of emotions as I read this book...
It's true, I felt anger, I cried and I literally laughed out loud. But more then that I found comfort in this reading as the writers connected the book to Scripture and the true character of God - LOVE.
I have purchased this book and given it as gifts just as my Aunt gave it to me. It feels like I'm paying it forward.

Historia
“The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line,” writes Du Bois, in one of the most prophetic works in all of American literature. First published in 1903, this collection of 15 essays dared to describe the racism that prevailed at that time in America—and to demand an end to it. Du Bois’ writing draws on his early experiences, from teaching in the hills of Tennessee, to the death of his infant son, to his historic break with the conciliatory position of Booker T. Washington.

Happy have finally read this book!

This was a good book recommended by my professor many years ago. It was eye opening in many ways. My only issue was the difficulty with understanding when there was a change in chapter / subject.
