Historia
The Glass Elder wants wishes. Three, to be exact. Athelas wants a way in, and those wishes may well be that way—but giving the Elder what he wants means putting Camellia in harm's way. It also means that YeoWoo will have to choose between trusting Athelas one last time, and taking a bite at suddenly hot revenge that could swiftly go cold if she misses her chance. Now that revenge is within reach of her teeth, will YeoWoo manage to tear out one last, bloody heart? Can Athelas put aside his own ends for long enough to protect all those dearest to him from threats outside—and from himself?

Fantastic Story
Revisado: 12-11-24
This whole series was amazing! One of the absolute best redemption arcs I’ve ever read. So many authors make it a sudden decision for the protagonist to turn a page and try to redeem themselves for past mistakes. This series did an amazing job of seeing the steady progression of change in the characters and showing how they learned to forgive themselves and others. It was well done, I thoroughly enjoyed all of these books and can’t recommend them enough. Definitely suggest that these should be read only after the City Between Series to get the best impact and knowledge of all the characters involved.

Historia
Hot on the tails of the gumiho who slaughtered her family, YeoWoo instead stumbles over the battered and broken body of a merman who knows just a little bit too much about her quarry. It should be simple to keep Marazul both alive and useful, but although YeoWoo is successful in the former, the latter is a different tail. YeoWoo has always taken what she wanted in blood and force. Athelas has always gained what he needed by deception and manipulation. With their usual methods failing at every turn and the investigation swiftly becoming deadly, it's time to make a few changes.

Loving this Series!
Revisado: 02-24-24
I fell in love with the City Between and all of its characters and was/am ecstatic that there was a spin-off series following up on Athelas' story. This is the third book and I absolutely love seeing the changes beginning to occur in Athelas as well as the character development of his housemates. There are more encounters with the beloved characters from City Between and a better connection with the new characters introduced in this series. There have been a lot of negative comments about the narration, but, in my opinion, Matthew Lloyd Davies has a good interpretation of Athelas' character. Athelas was always described as being more calm, thoughtful, and laid-back, so it makes sense that the narration of his spin-off series and his dialogue would do the same. It was a little difficult to get used to if you had just finished the City Between series with the much perkier character of Pet and the exuberant narrator which fit with Pet's personality and style. I was able to adjust pretty quickly, however, and have thoroughly enjoyed the series- I also had read all of these books before they became available on Audible, which may have helped with the perspective a bit. I am looking forward to the next installments when they become available!

Historia
Athelas has always been opposed to having a small possibly cursed Australian boy in the kitchen. When that small boy disappears, however, and Athelas's housekeeper Camellia strongly encourages him to do something about it, he finds himself wavering. YeoWoo wants nothing to do with the disappearing Harrow, cursed or otherwise. Caught up with her own investigation and preparations for revenge, she would prefer her housemates to remain unseen and unheard. Entirely absent is even better. But Athelas and YeoWoo have something in common.

Historia
It's been a rough couple of days for twenty-two-year-old Madeline Bennet, the newest (and most reluctant) member of Gray's renowned team of knight marshals. Not only did her shadow creatures create a forest fire that's burning down western Colorado, but she has no idea where to find the thresholds so she can send the beasts back to the land from which they came (or even how to open them). On top of that, her parents have figured out something is amiss with her magic, Rafe has taken off on a wild pixie chase, and the status of her relationship is seated in the region of "it's complicated."

Historia
Exiled, excommunicated, and with a bounty on his head, Athelas is lying low in Seoul for exactly one reason: he has a wedding to attend. Whether or not he's welcome is another matter. Luckily for Athelas, several bodies have turned up with their soft insides gnawed out, whether by magic or Behindkind—and the latest of those bodies is at the very wedding hall he has been staking out. The Behindkind investigators suspect one of Athelas's housemates: YeoWoo, a gumiho with a thirst for revenge and an even greater appetite for soft underbelly than Athelas.

Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

Wonderful rendition, Serkis' reading is really a dramatization that recaptures the magic of a well beloved children's story. Sincerely hope he narrates the Lord of the Rings trilogy next!
