Historia
In 1942, the Gestapo sent out an urgent transmission: "She is the most dangerous of all Allied spies. We must find and destroy her." The target in their sights was Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who talked her way into Special Operations Executive, the spy organization dubbed Winston Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." She became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and - despite her prosthetic leg - helped to light the flame of the French Resistance, revolutionizing secret warfare as we know it.

An amazing women
Revisado: 10-14-23
I loved this book, am so glad I now know about this fascinating women, Virginia Hall. This book is top on my list of favorite WW2 books. It is a biography, but reads like a thrilling spy novel. The bravery, courage and resourcefulness Virgina Hall showed when facing immense danger is awe inspiring. This book should be required reading in all High Schools.

Historia
Rare-book dealer Ashlyn Greer’s affinity for books extends beyond the intoxicating scent of old paper, ink, and leather. She can feel the echoes of the books’ previous owners—an emotional fingerprint only she can read. When Ashlyn discovers a pair of beautifully bound volumes that appear to have never been published, her gift quickly becomes an obsession. Not only is each inscribed with a startling incrimination, but the authors, Hemi and Belle, tell conflicting sides of a tragic romance.

Started out great, super great!
Revisado: 09-10-23
Then became pretty predictableI figured out what went wrong as it was happening But it was enjoyable getting to the nice neat and tidy ending. This was my first by this author and will give another one a try. The narrators were great, especially Steve West, loved his (to my ears) accent.

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

Wonderful
Revisado: 08-20-23
All three in series are worth listening to. I am not a hockey fan, doesn't matter. These books mesmerized me and my sister. In fact I had just started the second one when I recommended the series to my sister, she finished all 3 before I finished the second one.
Loved the characters, the location, the story.

Good story bad editing
Revisado: 10-22-22
Really enjoyed the story and the different view point’s of the characters. However the editing is dreadful. Repeated chapters, long pause between some character changes and no pause whatsoever between others.

Beautiful.
Revisado: 07-30-22
I read Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath in High school and have been fascinated by not only the time period but the Dust Bowl and the migrant workers ever since. This book was a beautiful account of one family’s journey. Better then Grapes of Wrath. The Dunns felt more real to me then the Joads I highly recommend.

It’s my comfort food book
Revisado: 04-03-22
I have read and listened to this book 5 to 6 times. First time in the 80’s. ( I love all MM Kaye books) I still have the well worn paperback. Love the story, obviously, but hated the narrator I have listened 2 times only because of my love of the story, but the narration makes me cringe. All the male characters sound so effeminate and pompous. While some are pompous, Alex Randal is not.
I also agree with another reviewer, and I am usually opposed to abridged version, this one could have cut out a-lot of the back stories without changing the story at all. (Johnny, Sabrina, Juanita)
I would purchase a new version with different narrator and listen for the 4th time!

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

A Remarkable Woman
Revisado: 03-15-20
I alternated listening to this book and listening to the music from Hamilton. I recommend it. I loved learning about Eliza Hamilton, The authors did a wonderful job making history come alive. I highly recommend this book. The narrator did a great job with the different characters, although I found Angelica’s tone to be too 20th century snarky.

Can she really be that stupid
Revisado: 02-01-20
Not even sure if I will finish this one. The reviews were so good so I might push on if I can get past the weak story line of the women who gets hit by a truck and wakes in a hospital with amnesia. Come on we are expected to believe The hospital sends her home, the police are not involved, she has a phone full of numbers that she doesn’t even bother to call!
Then she finds a stack of letters from the 1940’s in a hidden compartment in her apartment and actually says, how did these letters get in my apartment, Duh you think the letter writer might of lived there before you.
All this in the first few chapters.

Beautiful
Revisado: 08-25-19
Can’t say more than beautiful. I savored this book torn between wanting to know what happens and not wanting it to end. I loved the narrators performance. Each character’s voice distinct and perfect.
While I have always loved the marshes in the town I grew up in, I now have a greater admiration of them.
