Dog husbandry
Revisado: 11-25-24
Something that stood out that I haven’t seen in other books are the things to do to prepare your dog to be handled at the vet, when circumstances change in the future (such as when you raise your dogs without young children, and then grandchildren come into the mix) and a lot of thinking down the road for the future information.

I’m learning so much from Sheila!
Revisado: 01-31-24
I love the information about the ingredients Sheila shares, the step-by-step instructions, the variations you can try, the recipes. There’s so much wisdom and experience that she is sharing here, worth listening to, and then practicing making the bread, and then listening to again to see what was missed to pick up some more tips.

It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply....

I learned about India and about myself
Revisado: 08-03-15
The story was captivating. I enjoyed learning Indian customs and about many different places in India - from small villages, to slums, to large cities. There were also several insights that helped me think about what kind of a mother I want to be. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and the performance.

We miss Tim Curry, but Malcolm was great!
Revisado: 07-28-15
My 15-year-old daughter and I listened to the Abhorsen trilogy and were hesitant to try this when we love that series so much. Clariel, however, was well done and added to the Old Kingdom story. We enjoyed it and loved that Clariel was different. We had some great discussions. While this is my fourth favorite in the series, it's my daughter's favorite.

Historia
Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear I’ll shut up about it?”

Revisado: 03-15-15
I loved hearing Mindy's story. Sometimes I found myself stopping and thinking about the things she said and seeing a different perspective. It was interesting, I loved that it was read by Mindy, and Mindy was so open about her life, including some hard times.

Outstanding, insightful, informative novel
Revisado: 11-27-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Still Alice to be better than the print version?
I loved Still Alice and rotated between the print and audio versions of the novel. The print version is better, but the audio was good. There were a couple of places during the narration that I was confused about whether Alice or John was speaking, which would have been apparent in the print version, but other than that, the recording was great.
What did you like best about this story?
I learned so much by experiencing Alice's life. The characters were well developed and interesting.
What does Lisa Genova bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I honestly feel like a professional narrator could have done a better job voicing this novel, but I am grateful that I had the freedom to read the print or listen while driving and working around the house.
Who was the most memorable character of Still Alice and why?
Lydia was an incredible character who I enjoyed getting to know. Her patience, love, and understanding were admirable.

Matt is a clone of El Patrón, a powerful drug lord of the land of Opium, which is located between the United States and Mexico. For six years, he has lived in a tiny cottage in the poppy fields with Celia, a kind and deeply religious servant woman who is charged with his care and safety. He knows little about his existence until he is discovered by a group of children playing in the fields and wonders why he isn't like them.

A different dystopian fiction - a page-turner
Revisado: 03-09-14
Where does The House of the Scorpion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The House of Scorpions was one of the best audiobooks I've listened to; the narrator was excellent! His accents were superb!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Matt, the main character, was my favorite character. He has such a unique story, that learning about what would happen to him in the future made the story compelling. My 14-year-old daughter and I also loved Tam Lin and Celia.
Have you listened to any of Raul Esparza’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't listened to his narrations before this one, but if I see his name on other audiobooks, it will factor into my decision about whether or not to buy the book - in that book's favor!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I had several extreme reactions to this book - mostly shock, horror, sadness, and respect. This book definitely brought more emotions to the surface than most others.
Any additional comments?
The story was so unique. I went through a phase of reading dystopian fiction and got a little burned out because a lot of the ideas seemed to be repeated with a spin. This was entirely new to me and made me think about something new, which I love. My daughter and I listen to audiobooks while we drive, and both of us would look forward to a car ride.

Fantastic character growth & detailed descriptions
Revisado: 03-09-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The Schwa Was Here to be better than the print version?
I think the print version of The Schwa was here would be equally enjoyable to the audio version. I did love that the author narrated his own book!
What did you like best about this story?
Probably what I enjoyed best about the book was how the main character, Antsy grows as a person.
What does Neal Shusterman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Shusterman's emphasis and accent were great.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I wouldn't want to read this entire book in one sitting, but preferred to stop and think about the book. I like listening to audiobooks while I drive and clean up around the house, and this one was entertaining enough to make me look forward to a long drive and even to cleaning up the kitchen.
