Historia
Artemis had one of the most widespread cults in the Greek world, perhaps due to her connection to nature, which can be a ubiquitous antagonist or boon-giver. Her association with nature may also explain why she was one of the oldest deities in the Greek pantheon, although her appearance in the Mycenaean Linear B script (the earliest form of Greek that has been deciphered, dating to as early as 1450 BCE) is still contested.

Excellent content. Terrible narration.

Too Rushed.
Revisado: 04-17-23
This book provides a lot of great history about the Goddess of the Hunt, but it does so in a hurried, halting manner. I was not impressed by the performance for this reason. I think the book would benefit from a slower pace and taking time to examine in more detail the history and theories about Artemis. A different narrator would help too.

Good Resource But Author Talks Down To The Reader
Revisado: 04-11-23
This is not the first time I've read this book. I originally read it back when I was in college 25 years ago. I thought it was the best book I'd read on the craft ever at the time. My attitude and my practice has changed and so has my feelings on this book. The author gives a bunch of really helpful information, but her tone is condescending and comes off as authoritarian and Witchier-Than-Thou. I think it's a good book, but it is no longer a book I recommend to those interested in the craft. There are much better books that do not talk down to the reader.

Historia
Scott Cunningham's classic introduction to Wicca is about how to live life magically, spiritually, and wholly attuned with nature. It is a book of sense and common sense, not only about magick but also about religion and one of the most critical issues of today: how to achieve the much-needed and wholesome relationship with our Earth. Cunningham presents Wicca as it is today: a gentle, Earth-oriented religion dedicated to the Goddess and God. Wicca also includes Cunningham's own Book of Shadows.

A Classic Guide for Solitary Wiccans
Revisado: 06-14-22
I have read this book before in college, but lately I am finding Wicca calling to my spirit again. I bought the dead tree version and the audible version. just finished reading it and it is still as on point as I recall. The performer was okay, definitely not the voice I hear in my head .

Big Magic Wowed Me
Revisado: 05-18-22
I loved Big Magic. my sister turned me onto it when she was listening to it in the car, and then when she gifted me the book. I bought the Audible version to listen to at work. I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt Elizabeth Gilbert was talking directly to him. She had amazing insights on creativity and the excuses we use to hamstring ourselves. Thanks to her, I now believe I can be a writer without having to be a martyr or even because I expect something to come of it. I can be creative simply because it's the best way to live.
