Author trying to alienate readers?

I don’t go out of my way to look into authors’ politics but when they take the trouble to flash them in their books I can’t unlearn it. His mid-level-quality books aren’t worth it for me. I just returned one, unread, to the library.

Another book to learn from

As with his last book, relating to the possible takeover of Taiwan, I learned things about ransomware attacks from The Devil’s Ransom that I would otherwise have not encountered. Very interesting locations in this book.

Prisoners kept alive while their organs are harvested and sold one by one? Entertainment? I tried to return it but Amazon said no. I don’t want this book in my home.

Much more than you are expecting

This book is about people, not page after page of budgets or regulations. It reports some close calls and security failures that I had not seen reported before. Also some charming and some not-so-charming stories about our presidents and their families.

Too much violence for me

I liked the writing and characters. For me, this level is sustained violence through about 75% of the book was just too much.

Not like the other Virgin River books

I’ve read the original series more than once. This book was boring. I had to force myself to finish, thinking it has to have some substance, maybe later on. I was disappointed.

Cute premise

This was a surprise. Anything Andi Arndt narrates is wonderful. I didn’t know her as an author. This book was fun for about the first 2/3. The authors lost control of the plot toward the end. Still, it provided some much needed light humor. Anyone with intrusive parents, or who is inclined to be an intrusive parent, will smile at the mom and dad.

Charming and humorous

If you are looking for something light but worthwhile, I recommend this cute book. I have the attention span of a gnat this weekend. This book kept me good company while I knit and cleaned.

Confused Why This is So Highly Rated

I listened to the whole thing and I still don’t know what police work resulted in finding these killers other than eventual luck. The methods described re use of dogs to track was interesting but you will have to listen to learn what they tracked to ...
