Refreshing Stories from a Great American Story Teller
Revisado: 02-05-25
I love the author’s simple yet poignant style Oscar telling. I’d heard bits and pieces of some of these stories over the years, but Mike’s way with words gave me refreshing insight into some great stories of Americas. He is a gifted communicator.

Why am I here? What is God's call in my life? How do I fit God's call with my own individuality? How should God's calling affect my career, my plans for the future, and my concepts of success? First published in 1997 by distinguished author and speaker Os Guinness, The Call remains a treasured source of wisdom for those who ask these questions. According to Guinness, "No idea short of God's call can ground and fulfill the truest human desire for purpose and fulfillment."

A refreshing look at The Calling
Revisado: 11-08-24
As a Christ Follower I ‘ve held a limited view of the calling as something related to a person being “called” to a vocational ministry. I loved Os’s story about where that understanding lead him. Guinness takes the reader on a deeper journey to consider calling to be a life long journey to engage the culture from a thoughtful Christian worldview. A deep, thoughtful and insightful.

Historia
In 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device left Dan Crenshaw's right eye destroyed and his left blinded. Only through the careful hand of his surgeons, and what doctors called a miracle, did Crenshaw's left eye recover partial vision. And yet, he persevered, completing two more deployments. Why? There are certain stories we tell ourselves about the hardships we face—we can become paralyzed by adversity or we can adapt and overcome. We can be fragile or we can find our fortitude. Crenshaw delivers a set of lessons to help you do just that.

A Tense, Invigorating Page Turner

James Carr exceeds expectations in his seventh James Reese novel with twists and turns in plot will keep you up at night. Masterfully penned in the best tradition of modern spy thrillers, Carr’s ability to tell a story with so many technically details can at times seem mind numbing. His insights into current events including AI will give the reader a “wake up” call to some of the challenges we face today.

Historia
In 1980, a freshman congressman was gunned down in Rhode Island, sending shockwaves through Washington that are still reverberating over four decades later. Now, with the world on the brink of war and a weakened United States facing rampant inflation, political division, and shocking assassinations, a secret cabal of global elites is ready to assume control. Historia
A sweeping new look at the unheralded transformation that is eroding the foundations of American exceptionalism. Americans today find themselves mired in an era of uncertainty and frustration. The nation's safety net is pulling apart under its own weight; political compromise is viewed as a form of defeat; and our faith in the enduring concept of American exceptionalism appears increasingly outdated. But the American Age may not be ending.

Relevant Read for Today’s America
Revisado: 02-12-22
This was a refreshing and exciting read. I believe the author provides exceptional insight to the transitions that we have seen in US society in the past 20 years.
Only downside was the gloating of all of the Clinton Presidency impacts. Would love to hear his ideas concerning post Covid changes.
This book should be read by ministry leaders to enhance their understanding of how to more effectively monitor in their community.

Historia
In this important book, G.K. Chesterton offers a remarkably perceptive analysis of social and moral issues, even more relevant today than in his own time. With a light, humorous tone but a deadly serious philosophy, he comments on errors in education, on feminism vs. true womanhood, on the importance of the child, and other issues, using incisive arguments against the trendsetters’ assaults on the common man and the family.

Until now I’d only read excerpts of Chesterton. I love the way her turns a phrase. His abilities to humorously and seriously discuss the political issues of his day was outstanding!
