Outstanding!

I am an avid King fan, just not the horror work, but one must admit he is a genius when it comes to a great story. This is the 3rd non horror book I have read of King’s and each time the book was one of the all time best fiction books for me.

Excellent story, but overproduced

It's a great story that is somewhat ruined by the overproduced sound effects, and music that is largely distracting from the flow of the story. It has a rock star cast that clearly very talented, but it hard to appreciate through all the fluff.

This seams like it was produced by someone who does not really listen to audio books much, as the intimacy of a good orally told story is best done by one talented voice actor. Game of Thrones is a classic example, as the voice of Roy Dotrice is better than this whole production combined! Listen to it and you'll see that you forget sometimes that it is just one actor's voice. It's brilliant.

I had to turn this off a number of times. I gave a it a good go, but I really hope they redo this with one good narrator, as I think it will be one of the classics.

Loved it as I do all the series. However, I do get a bit annoyed with the contrived power restrictions in the story. In book one a gold has near omnipotent power in Sacred Valley, but a Sage is reduced to a Jade due to the restrictions on the Valley.

The narrator is incredibly good. I honestly forget its the same person. He is a master.

I have just listened to both books in the series 3 times each. Yes, they are that good. And give Rothfuss a break will ya! It takes years to produce work this good.

Much better than expected

This was a surprise. A good amount of suspense here and a real age turner. Definitely worth the credit.

Truly excellent!

Big historical novel fan here and this is among my top 5 of all time. 2nd only after Shogun. This is saying a lot! King is a true master. I could not get into his horror work, but this is gripping and profound from start to finish.

One of the best books ever read!

My teenagers got me on to this series. It is amazing! Especially the first book. This is now one of my top 5 books of all time. Not just of the Sci-Fi genre, but any fiction at all.

It is not just for young readers. It is very deep, particularly the first book. Very mature themes here.

Disappointing ...

I read a lot of reviews on here and on Goodreads for a really good post apocalyptic series, and heard rave reviews about this work. It has a rabid online cult following from the original blog.

So I had high hopes for this. But be warned, although this is somewhat fun a refreshing take. It's story very poor and monotonous. I wanted to love this, but after giving this a good try, I have no interest in reading the next book in the series.

It is hard to care about the characters.

Boring ... I wanted to love this book.

I gave it a real good go. I listened to something like seven chapters, but at the end I could not care less about the characters, nor did I want to know what happened next. I wanted to love this book.
