One of the greatest contemporary writers! Performance was great even though less than 5 stars keep being posted?

This is not the subject type I would normally read but the series is mesmerizing! This series would be perfect for a TV or movie presentation. I cannot believe no one has optioned this series!

Historia
It is spring 1919, and John Sawtelle’s imagination has gotten him into trouble … again. Now John and his newlywed wife, Mary, along with their two best friends and their three dogs, are setting off for Wisconsin’s northwoods, where they hope to make a fresh start—and, with a little luck, discover what it takes to live a life of meaning, purpose and adventure. But the place they are headed for is far stranger and more perilous than they realize, and it will take all their ingenuity, along with a few new friends—human, animal, and otherworldly—to realize their dreams.

Never again!
Revisado: 07-14-24
The writer is excellent and has a wonderful artistic style ( I could not get through James Joyce either). the book is mainly a showcase of the writers talent and ability to create complex story lines which I hope will make some sense at the end. I hope to finish but not sure I can take the torture. Sadly I waited too late for refund . Hard to imagine all these Opra book club members liking this!

Very disorganized plot line and often boring
Revisado: 07-05-23
Surprised that this well regarded writer should write a book with such a poorly thought up plot line. The story bounced all over the place and mostly made no sense. Her knowledge of Medicine was mediocre at best. I kept thinking it would all come together and make some sense. The book taught me nothing except to never try another of her books.

Historia
What? You don’t know Adam Wade? Here’s your chance! Adam Wade’s personal-yet-universal stories and vulnerable delivery have made him one of the most popular storytellers and comedians in the country on "story slam" platforms like The Moth and Comedy Central’s Whiplash. This Audible Original, performed on stage in front of a live audience, combines Wade’s greatest hits stories with entirely new material.

The whole book seemed like an introduction.
Revisado: 03-15-15
Did Kate Binchy do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
No, the characters were poorly drawn
Any additional comments?
The end had no purpose or relation to the rest of the story. I have enjoyed her other books but this book was a waste of time

Loved her previous books
Revisado: 11-12-14
How could the performance have been better?
This book is ruined by the heavy accents especially by the female reader. She also speaks too fast. I had no trouble understanding the previous books by this author. A little less realism in the performance would help the foreign listener. I feel I have lost about a quarter of the content of the book.
