This series is unraveling
Revisado: 11-05-24
Plot holes, boring, blah. Barely hanging on to this series. It was always just a B for me, there's the barest thread of a story I'm hanging on for, Skippy saves it obviously... Glad so many others of you like it?

Ridiculous in a boring way
Revisado: 06-29-24
Each book in this series *barely* held my interest to continue. I kept thinking the next book would pay off, and by the middle of the 4th book, I realized it never would.
I enjoy ridiculous and weird premises, but this was ridiculous and weird without being very entertaining . :::shrug::: (as a reference point, I really enjoyed the Bobiverse - space and aliens in a more compelling way)

Good enough to continue
Revisado: 06-10-24
I would equate it to a B+; entertaining enough, action sequences were easy to follow, any violence moved the story forward without being gratuitous, and there were a couple good twists. I could have used more complexity with the science, but it was pretty good overall. Maybe the first book is just laying the foundation to more complexity later on? Ray Porter is a rockstar narrator, as always.

Historia
In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

So much time wasted, pretty much a let down :(
Revisado: 01-15-22
Perhaps I didn't grasp enough information while listening vs reading, but I've been waiting since the first book for this series to be interesting and amazing, and have just finished this 3rd book with disappointment. It was just ok, and if I could go back in time, I would have skipped it altogether.
There are of course interesting moments, and the descriptive language is vivid and beautiful, but I just feel like a lot is missing. There are way too many irrelevant details in same ways, and not enough relevant details in others.
It's almost as if the story the author actually wanted to tell was at least twice as long....it's hard to explain otherwise. There are other reviews that more eloquently describe what is missing, but are on the same page as me. Read those, haha.

Enjoyable moments, but overall, not great
Revisado: 08-21-21
Maybe I just don't like the multi-voice production with sounds and music, but this is just a random bunch of stories with rare, interesting moments. I almost quit a few times, and don't think I'd be worse off if I had. Sorry!

Historia
Gutsy and her friends, along with Benny and his crew, have just survived a massive attack on New Alamo by the Night Army - a mix of mindless shambling los muertos and sentient half-zombie ravagers. She's also reeling from the revelation that the residents of her town were the lab rats of the biological testing facility linked to creating the most dangerous zom, the Raggedy Man, who controls all of the living dead. And the first raid was only a test. The real Night Army is coming, and this time, it'll be a handful of survivors against seven billion zombies.

Loved the series until the last couple of books. Got halfway. Wayyy too gory and over the top without much substance. I’ll just read a synopsis.

Yikes - even more subpar than the first
Revisado: 08-14-21
Disappointed - the story is feeling disjointed, and the narrator is trying to do a Serbian accent by just haltingly saying words. It’s maddening.

Just a long battle with a mildly interesting ending
Revisado: 03-14-21
I really wanted to like this, but the whole story is just a battle with only slight details about the flight or their lives. If there was more background on their lives in general, I would have been more receptive for the technical-detail-heavy story.
