Historia
No single sea battle has had more far-reaching consequences than the one fought in the harbor at Hampton Roads, Virginia, in March 1862. The Confederacy, with no fleet of its own, built an iron fort containing 10 heavy guns on the hull of a captured Union frigate named the Merrimack. The North got word of the project when it was already well along, and, in desperation, commissioned an eccentric inventor named John Ericsson to build the Monitor, an entirely revolutionary iron warship.

Well-written and engaging book, wonderfully performed. The story of the Monitor and Merrimac is well-known, but the author gives it new life with his balanced and thoughtful retelling.

Historia
Dickens called David Copperfield his "favourite child," and many critics consider the novel to be one of his best depictions of childhood. Set in early Victorian England against a backdrop of great social change, Dickens acutely observed the phenomena of the Industrial Revolution and used them as the canvas on which he painted the novel. Many consider David Copperfield to be the author’s finest work.

Excellent performance, but one nit
Revisado: 06-07-18
Wonderful book and superb performance. The sound engineering, however, had some issues — inconsistent volume and tone, with occasional places where the book was shouting or screeched. But a terrific audiobook anyway by any standard.

Historia
The Way We Live Now is a complex and compulsive tale that traces the career of Augustus Melmotte, a strange and mysterious financier who bursts into London society like a guided missile. In setting up a dubious scheme based on speculative money and stock market gambles, Melmotte manages to lure in several members of the English aristocracy, for whom money is the summum bonum. The world is at his feet - until the corruption catches up with him.

The book itself is wonderful, but what makes this audiobook stand out is the superb narration by David Shaw-Parker.

Historia
Leonardo da Vinci created the two most famous paintings in history, The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. But in his own mind, he was just as much a man of science and engineering. With a passion that sometimes became obsessive, he pursued innovative studies of anatomy, fossils, birds, the heart, flying machines, botany, geology, and weaponry.

Historia
Early in the 21st century, a quiet revolution occurred. For the first time, the major developed economies began to invest more in intangible assets, like design, branding, R&D, or software, than in tangible assets, like machinery, buildings, and computers. For all sorts of businesses, from tech firms and pharma companies to coffee shops and gyms, the ability to deploy assets that one can neither see nor touch is increasingly the main source of long-term success.

Fascinating topic
Revisado: 03-08-18
Would you consider the audio edition of Capitalism Without Capital to be better than the print version?
No. Print might work better because of the complexities of the subject

There were no characters. This is a book about economics. You need to refine your algorithms in your software.
Which character – as performed by Derek Perkins – was your favorite?
?? The dollar? Money? What on earth do you mean?
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Only an idiot would make a film of this book. Who thought up this question?
Any additional comments?
You need to work on your software. Your questions are stupid.

Historia
Let's face it, we can't control every aspect of our lives, and the fact is a lot of things we stress about are out of our direct control. The ancient philosophy of Stoicism still stands the test of time and is still practiced in society today all over the world. This is the art of living in true happiness, as stoic principles guide us to live in harmony and flow with life's many challenges.

Superficial
Revisado: 03-08-18
What disappointed you about Stoicism: Introduction to the Stoic Way of Life?
Very repetitive, "dumbed down" & unenlightening. The subject was reduced to a series of slogans and trite expressions, which didn't do justice to the important philosophical traditions of stoicism.
What could Jason Gale have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Given more respect to the intelligence of his readers/listeners. This was the made-for-TV version of serious philosophical movement.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Narrator was fine.
