Historia
Mike Campbell was the lead guitarist for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers from the band’s inception in 1976 to Petty’s tragic death in 2017. His iconic, melodic playing helped form the foundation of the band’s sound, as heard on definitive classics like “American Girl,” “Breakdown,” “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” “Learning to Fly” and “Into the Great Wide Open.”

An honest and real account of a wonderful life
Revisado: 05-03-25
It seems like Mike Cambell it was a real down to earth guy who worked at his craft every day and it paid off in a whirlwind of success. When each opportunity came to him he was surprised and happy to take it by the horns. He was humble next to Tom Petty who took most of the Glory but Mike was instrumental in many of Tom Perry’s songs so he deserves as much praise and I hope just as much publishing.

Honesty about a subject no one talks about
Revisado: 02-10-25
It took a tremendous amount of courage to put out this honest work. Amidst so much grief at the loss of the beloved “Twitch”, Allison had the guts to put ALL the feelings on the table. What if Steven “Twitch” was not the perfect person everyone thought he was? What if Allison and her family aren’t ready to be retired because he decided to end his life. Real things that real people go through but usually don’t have to do in the public eye, she doesn’t sugarcoat the experience. Public perception of her husband was that he was almost a perfect cartoon super husband and how dare her reveal that he was not. He chose to end his pain with suicide but didn’t really plan what would happen to her and the family after. Allison Holker navigated one the worst things that could possibly happen and decided it wouldn’t define her and her family’s lives. They will continue to heal and go on from here. What a brave and admirable woman.

Interesting memoir of an era and genre of music I haven’t really listened to before. I like Michael McDonald’s relaxed attitude about just about everything.

Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

Fascinating and revealing peek into the life of a Sociopath
Revisado: 08-07-24
I’ve known quite a few people that weren’t normal but most of them were medicated or cliff hanging off their meds. This book gives insight to a spectrum where it’s possible that many more people than we’d ever suspect might embody. Sometimes shocking but always fascinating this is the story of one woman’s journey to discover who she really is and how to be okay with what she finds. I believe her lifelong study of sociopathy will be helpful in the future of mental health and diagnosis.

Excellently read. Talented narrator. Very good book.
Revisado: 07-21-24
The reader was so great at changing voices and characters flawlessly. It was amazing all the different accents and all the different ages and nationalities, he was able to smoothly transition between them and made the story easy to follow even though it had some complex parts.
This story of an individual who doesn’t think much of himself is intriguing in the same way life is. Not all of us will have the adventures and experiences he’s had but the philosophies of some of the people he meets influence him and educate him at the same time we the listeners receive the lessons. It is long! Not boring but I’ve been a long time on this book and like life the story will continue after we’re done listening. I feel like I’ve been on a long journey and we’ll be friends for life even if we never see each other again.

Born A Unicorn
Revisado: 03-09-24
Barbara lived a beautiful exciting life. She was born with an amazing imagination and a unique natural singing voice. She’s always been a bit mysterious and it was really wonderful to get the whole story right from her. She was incredibly lucky that her talent was discovered but she also had to work hard and fight for herself in the misogynistic environment of the entertainment business. Despite the unbalanced sexism of the era it was a wild and colorful time to have a top career in the arts. The places she went and the people she knew were great privileges she enjoyed as a glamorous star of stage and screen. Her great personality really comes through in her narration of this audible book. I loved the details of her experiences directing and producing films and recordings. Definitely one of the best biographies I’ve ever listened to. A high quality purchase AND I will go back and listen again as I watch her films and listen to her records.

If you would have told a young John Stamos flipping burgers at his dad’s fast-food joint that one day he’d be a household name and that, at the height of his success, he’d be living alone, divorced, with no kids, high on a cocktail of forgetting, he might’ve asked, “You want fries with that?”

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

A very real royal story
Revisado: 01-18-23
What a privilege to hear about the royal life from an authentic member of the royal family. I enjoyed his story and reading so much! I was never bored and had a hard time stopping listening when I had to do other things. I listened cover to cover in several hours a day for a few days. I re- listened to several areas which were a little heavy with detail. He is curious, endearing, spiritual and full of love. I certainly would prefer his company over all other royals, no contest. There were many things that weren’t clear but he just told what happened. He doesn’t accuse anyone of exact acts so still who is responsible for the racism and cruelty remains a mystery. I hope he writes more books. I’m a big fan of his writing and storytelling. Go Harry!! I for one am all in!!

Historia
The title of Ravenmaster is a serious title indeed, and after decades of serving the Queen, Yeoman Warder Christopher Skaife took on the added responsibility of caring for the infamous ravens. In The Ravenmaster, he lets listeners in on his life as he feeds his birds raw meat and biscuits soaked in blood, buys their food at Smithfield Market, and ensures that these unusual, misunderstood, and utterly brilliant corvids are healthy, happy, and ready to captivate the four million tourists who flock to the Tower every year.

Revisado: 01-03-23
I will listen over and over. Fascinating subject told by the author. I was working on some video art and added ravens to the scene. I looked online for their sounds and then got wrapped up in learning more and more about them. I found this book as part of my research and absolutely love it. There are some good hard facts and plenty of stories fictional and true. Never a boring moment in the entirety of the book.
