Historia
We live in a world obsessed with drinking. We drink at baby showers and work events, brunch and book club, graduations and funerals. Yet no one ever questions alcohol’s ubiquity—in fact, the only thing ever questioned is why someone doesn’t drink. It is a qualifier for belonging and if you don’t imbibe, you are considered an anomaly. As a society, we are obsessed with health and wellness, yet we uphold alcohol as some kind of magic elixir, though it is anything but.

I am no longer able to view alcohol as a fun liquid. I see it for what it is. Thank you Holly!

Historia
From the creator of the blog Renegade Mothering, Janelle Hanchett's forthright, darkly funny, and ultimately empowering memoir chronicling her tumultuous journey from young motherhood to abysmal addiction and a recovery she never imagined possible. Pregnant at 21 by a man she'd known three months, Janelle Hanchett embraced motherhood with the determined optimism of the recklessly self-confident. After giving birth, she found herself bored, directionless, and seeking relief in wine, which she justified as sophisticated and going well with chicken.

Good overall
Revisado: 10-07-22
Good story but I really didn’t like how she portrayed her friends were normal drinkers and herself as the alcoholic. Seemed like booze was bad for all of them!

Captivating

Melissa is a fantastic writer. Even though I didn’t have much interest in benzodiazepines to start she was able to captivate me into another world. Wonderful

Historia
If You're In My Office, It's Already Too Late. James Sexton knows this. After dealing with over 1000 clients whose marriages have dissolved over everything from an ill-advised threesome with the nanny to the uneven division of carpool duties, he also knows all of the what- not-to-dos for couples who want to build - and consistently work to preserve - a lasting, fulfilling relationship. Described by former clients as a "courtroom gunslinger" and "the sociopath you want on your side", Sexton tells the unvarnished truth about relationships. These usually derive from dishonest communication.

This is the funniest and informational self book out there. Coming straight from the raw mouth of the lawyer himself. I listened to it with my fiancé and now husband. He even thought it was awesome. Highly recommend for any couple.

The latest addition to Deep Work. Many of the same ideas as the first book but I left feeling more able and inclined to go sans digital.
